Your favourite episode for your least favourite character?

As annoying as Neelix could be, I really liked Jetrel and the episode in which he dies and 7 brings him back.

I've since remembered that the second episode is titled Mortal Coil. I've also remembered I really liked Neelix in Once Upon a Time and Fair Trade. When they gave Ethan Phillips something meaty to do, he could deliver.

^I agree, the actor wasn't bad at all, it's just that the character was often used in a shallow and annoying way (jealousy, and other irritating habits in the form of 'comedic relief'). I still think it's a pity his deeper and more serious side (the trauma he endured because of his hard life, his inner conflicts and demons) weren't given more screentime. When they did, it resulted in great episodes (as you mention, Fair Trade, Mortal Coil, or Jetrel for example).

Neelix - Fair Trade

This was the episode where Neelix was afraid he had outlived his usefulness, and it was nice progression for the character.

Have you seen Robert Picardo in Stargate Atlantis? His character shares the Doctor's love of opera.
I saw all the StarGate shows (a very long time ago) but SG-1 was my favourite, I saw that one several times. So I remember very little of Atlantis (and Universe was so bad, my God, I don't remember it any more only the fact that I didn't like it) and in this sense I have no idea about Picardo's character any more. I vaguely remember that he was also in the original series and he was a little disgusting figure who always insisted on keeping to the law by the letter - or something similar. I didn't like him. I know that later he became a main character on Atlantis but for me Weir was the real leader and after they threw her out, I wasn't very interested any more.
So I don't have too many memories of StarGate, not any more. The first one was good, Richard Dean Anderson totally rocked. That much I can remember. :)

Thing I remember most is RDA as MacGyver describing his endless loathing for guns, then RDA in Stargate talking about how awesome the FN P90 was.

I actually wonder if Vulcans have a longer than normal childhood, actually. T'Pol looked about twentysomething, and she was actually 66.

That seems likely, so I looked up how old Spock was in TOS. It seems he was about 35 so Vulcan childhood can't be massively longer than Human childhood.

Fair enough - he's a main character on Atlantis in the final season and he became more likeable than he was initially.

So far no one has picked Chakotay, Tuvok or Tom as their least favourite character.

You can dislike how a character was handled without disliking the character. Indeed, the more you like them, the more you regret it when they get shafted. You can even believe that the story would be better if a character you liked was killed off. If Robert Beltran had gotten his wish and Chakotay had ended up snuffed around Season 4 or 5, the series wouldn't have lost much, and they might have been able to do something amazing with his final appearance. Yeah, the departures of Dax and Yar were underwhelming, but Voyager sometimes succeeds at the things the other series fail at.

Then again, given how Voyager treated the Chakotay character, especially in later years, it might have been something like:

<A quiet morning on the bridge. Clearly business as usual. Janeway scrapes her throat.>
Janeway: Is it me or is Commander Chakotay a bit late?
Tuvok: He was found dead in the corridors this morning. I discovered him doing my morning rounds. Didn't you read my report?
Janeway: Oh. (raises eyebrow). Too bad. Funeral at 14:00 I suppose?
Tuvok: No, he has donated his body to science. The EMH is setting up experiments as we speak.
Janeway: Ah well. He was a good man, he'll always remain in our hearts. Helm, let's get to the rendez vous point with the Gorvonan's officials, warp 6. We're due to meet them in 72 hours to negotiate passage through their territory and I'd rather not be late.

I don’t really have a “least favorite character”-I guess Chakotay? Not because I dislike him(though I don’t care for Robert Beltran), but he does great in Nemesis and Timeless.

Really Voyager’s ensemble nature made it so every one of the main cast got a chance to shine. Even if Seven, the doctor and Janeway predominated after season 3.

Don't know if Harry and Chakotay should be considered full members of the ensemble. 7, EMH, and Janeway got plenty of love, Tom, Tuvok, and Torres got some, Neelix was comic relief. But Harry and Chuckles were kind of like talking versions of Ayala.

Wonder how much money is saved by having an actor in a nonspeaking role vs speaking? I was watching a TNG episode the other day with Geordi in engineering giving orders to two other crewmen by their names even. Very serious situation that probably required more interaction than a few intense stares and terse nods back at him. It was plainly obvious that these actors were not allowed to speak back to him.

Got to be careful not to go over budget...

Harry and Chakotay get at least a few episodes centered on them.

Timeless, Nemesis, the episode where Voyager does repairs and Harry tries to be captain, the episode where the timeline is shattered on the ship(Chakotay centric). The episode where the crew is kidnapped has Harry and Chakotay lead the rescue effort. (Though that’s a more ensemble episode and not focused on any one crew member).

They don’t get as much focus as the big three(Janeway, Doctor, Seven) but they do get some attention.

I didn't dislike Tuvok though he wasn't one of my favorites.
“Prime Factors” -- Tuvok secretly traded the ship’s literary library for technology to get back home faster…. I admired him for sticking his neck out.

“Alter Ego” -- Tuvok engages with Marayna who’s very interested in him, they play Kal-Toh on the holodeck, he gives her solid advice at the end, etc.

Tried to come up with a favorite Seska episode, but couldn’t....not a main character, but in 13.

Timeless, Nemesis,

Two episodes that showed how strong those two actors could be if asked to do something other than play extras with lines.

the episode where Voyager does repairs and Harry tries to be captain,

Believe me, I haven't forgotten that one; it still pisses me off when I watch it.

the episode where the timeline is shattered on the ship(Chakotay centric).

Need to give that one another look; it's been awhile.

I think you mean "Workforce". When you have a two-part episode, extra type characters get more to do. Same thing in "Year of Hell".

Alter Ego” -- Tuvok engages with Marayna who’s very interested in him, they play Kal-Toh on the holodeck, he gives her solid advice at the end, etc.

Tuvok's equivalent of "romance of the week", given that he was married and very much committed to that marriage.

The time-shattered one with Chakotay is season 7's "SHATTERED".

Not the best episode of season 7, but I have to say it's a clever take on a clip show format. It's a clip show in that it highlights various adventures the series had previously but doing so with completely new scenes and not actually be a clip show. Got to give credit to the writers for coming up with that.

Chakotay had a lot of screen time in season 2 as well.

I can't think of a Seska episode I don't like. She was a brilliant villain. If I had to pick a favourite I think I can narrow it down to one of "State of Flux", "Basics" and "Worst Case Scenario".
