You're not alone. I keep hoping we'll at least find out if he survived the Dominion War or not.

I don't think anything has happened to him that couldn't be retconned by an imaginative author. I'm thinking of a novel like Full Circle that covered a substantial period to tell his story and return, then folding him back into the ongoing novelverse as has been done with other characters in Cast No Shadow and Unspoken Truth.

I'd like to see him back in Starfleet like the Voyager Maquis, maybe on DS9 or even serving on a ship like The Robinson or The Aventine.

It's really down to author interest. The campaign starts here...

Tom shows up in Imzadi II where he is freed and then summarily reimprisoned by story's end. As far as I recall he isn't dead there.

He also shows up in the Slings & Arrows short stories, in something that is a little incongruous with Imzadi.

Thomas shows up, Will dies and Thomas takes his place without anyone realizing. He takes to calling himself "Superior Will Riker"...

... what?

The Red King does it for me. I also recently read the Sundered, which is basically a prequel to Red King.

Thomas Riker also shows up in the future parts of the Millenium Trilogy as a Captain in one of the Starfleet's.

Synthesis gets my top vote. That book did everything that the TNG episode Emergence (my least favorite hour of Trek) did not. I also loved the exploration of a non-humanoid AI culture. We've gotten a bit more of that recently with Cold Equations (which was also great).

Over a Torrent Sea would have won out, but the Dr. Ree/Troi B-plot just did not work for me. I also really enjoyed Sword of Damocles. Based on the results here I am thinking that I may need to read Orion's Hounds again. I remember it as a solid book and I recall the high points of the plot, but it did not really leave a strong impression with me.

Now that I'm caught up with Titan-branded tales featured here, I'll add that I voted for Orion's Hounds and Synthesis. The two best books of the whole lot. I must say that Titan has been a pretty disappointing series for me. The first book was very good, but the second was not. I hated Sword of Damocles with a passion. Destiny is of course great, but aside from Synthesis it's either been boring or terrible with the Post-Destiny Titan books. A series featuring Riker, Troi and Tuvok seemed aimed right at me, but it's ended up being disappointment with some sparks of true greatness. Alas.

For me it's "Taking Wing". I liked the follow-up to Nemesis and the inclusion of characters previously seen in episodes or books (Keru) - and I absolutely enjoyed the transfer of Tuvok into this series, since at that time VOY was going no where.

But my enthusiasm for the series vaned and I stopped reading it altogether after "Over a Torrent Sea". I guess in the end the character constellation, especially the focus on the more alien and new crewmembers, didn't work out for me after all. And Riker/Troi never were my favourite characters of TNG - they worked well in that setting, and Riker would have made a great captain of the Enterprise (as evidenced by BOBW), but I'm just not as invested in them on their own. I only hope Tuvok will get back to VOY and Keru who'd practically faded into the background by that time (except for his few scenes with that cyborg character, what's his name?) will get reused in some other series - unlikely, given that he was the creation of the Mangels&Martin-duo.

I have a hard time choosing between these three:
Orion's Hounds
Over A Torrent Sea
Synthesis

I liked them all, the first two probably the least much. And yes, I even liked Seize the Fire :)

I still haven't read Fallen Gods

I think has Sword of Damocles has one of the most dramatic love/hate gaps I've come across in Trek Lit. It seems to be one you either love or hate. I loved it.

It did seem to that Marmite effect on the readership, from what I remember of it, I rather liked it, I read it way back in 2008 just after it came out. It was very Timey-Whimey which works well on screen, just not all the time in prose.

As for my favorite Titan Novel, it's probably either Synthesis or The Fallen Chalice, both by James Swallow.

I did enjoy Orions Hounds, which on reflection I find "interesting" given my dislike for most of Bennett's later work.

I believe that you mean The Poisoned Chalice. I think it was great as well. I hope he writes the next Titan novel :)

It hasn't been officially confirmed, but he is working on another a post-The Fall Titan novel.

With Sword, the Timey-wimey stuff was fine, perhaps even telegraphed too hard, but I couldn't engage with the characters in Sword. I didn't care about Jaza and I'll admit I haven't thought about him since he was last mentioned in Torrent Sea.
