Your Favorite Mary Sues

^Lol^

How is weasly not a mary sue again? Is it because the fans don't like him or because they were able to drag the character out of the fire with some of his final eps?

Ron Weasley? He was comedy relief. Harry was the Mary Sue.

Harry clearly had flaws, though. I've heard the argument that Ginny was a Mary Sue, however.

Is Ginny really in it enough to be a Mary Sue? I kind of thought she wasn't developed enough to be the love interest.

Some of my favorites:

Batman
Seven of Nine
Chloe Sullivan (Smallville)
Anakin Skywalker
Luke Skywalker (Star Wars EU)
Jacen Solo

Batman - yes. One of the main characteristics of most Mary Sues is to be a fantasy version of the author (but better!) and I think Batman definitely serves that purpose for most of his writers. Seven I might argue against on this score and say she was more of a The Wesley, which seems to be defined as someone the fans hate but the writers love and use as frequently as possible. Chloe I don't think is a Mary Sue at all, though she certainly has gathered more and more skills to an unrealistic point - but she's not an author stand-in. Anakin... maybe in the Anti-Sue version, but I think he's more a victim of childish writing than anything else. Don't know anything about the Star Wars EU so can't speak to Luke or Jacen.

I meant Wesley, dam my clunky fingers, inability to spell, short term memory and my ability to be easily distracted and leave sentences half wri

Kevin Sorbo's Hercules.

The fact that the show was well aware of his Mary Sue status and routinely lampshaded it made it work out surprisingly well.

Iolaus: Hercules, have you ever been wrong?
Hercules: I thought so once, but I was wrong.
Iolaus: :wtf:

What's-Her-Character's-Name, on the Stargate show... Amanda Tapping, I think, is the actress?

Egads...

Samantha Carter. Yep, I always thought she was a Mary Sue. She can save any planet, fight any bad guy, handle any weapon.. it got a bit old after awhile.

Thanks! Yeap, she got annoying after a bit, especially when she could walk right up to a piece of ancient tech and get it work immediately while all the other "scientists" would be busy pulling their hair out... *oy* :p

Cheers,
