Your Bottom 5 TNG

Home Soil
The Outrageous Okana
When The Bough Breaks
Force of Nature
Imaginary Friend

That one where Worf left the ship and murdered a Klingon on another ship. Gene Roddenberry would have been spitting tacks.

Any TNG episode that deals with Klingon politics on the Homwworld, or off it.

Borr-ring!!!

That's easily top 20, possibly a top 10 episode. One of my favourites.

1. Shades of Gray (Total Crap.)
2. Sub Rosa (A Space Ghost gives Beverly an orgasm -- wretched!)
3. Rascals (Absolutely awful.)
4. Home Soil (Pathetic rip of Devil in the Dark -- complete with the "bags of mostly water" line.)
5. The Outrageous Okona (Joe Piscopo jumps the shark -- 'nuff said!)

BTW, I can't watch any of these eps any more.

Agreed for the most part-- but "Rascals" I actually enjoy as one of the more ridiculous (but fun) light-hearted trek episodes with absolutely zero plausibility.

In no particular order:

1) Thine Own Self
2) The Outcast
3) The Masterpiece Society
4) The Loss
5) Up The Long Ladder

My choices might vary given the day, but those stand out for me at the moment.

Sub Rosa! How did I forget that dreck? I see there isn't much love for Time's Arrow, which I find strange as it was one of a few episodes that helped me to get into the series.

I liked Times Arrow... but I also liked QPid and a lot of people seem to be listing it in their bottom five. At least it's entertaining... there are a lot of "blah" episodes I would be before QPid.

1) Thine Own Self

4) The Loss

You MUST explain yourself!!
:wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

I found Troi to be unsufferably whiny in The Loss. I just couldn't find it within myself to sympathise. Furthermore, I just don't like Troi in general. I don't think there's a single Troi-centric episode I really enjoy, except for perhaps Power Play.

As for Thine Own Self, there is something that repulses me about that girl who befriends Data. I realise that shouldn't necessarily be a reason why it should be in my bottom 5, but I can't watch the episode because of her. I also don't like the idea of the bridge officer examination and to see Troi promoted over other more potential command qualified officers.

You may also find it shocking/intriguing or whatever, that I do kinda' like episodes such as Shades of Gray and Sub Rosa, so don't think I have overlooked them.

5) Aquiel -- A boring plot, involving a boring character (Geordi), and a "mystery" that is blatantly obvious.

4) Justice -- Lots of men in skimpy clothes...but nothing substantial beyond the eye candy.

3) Time Squared -- Non-sensical (I once read that this was originally intended to be a two-parter with Q-Who --- and Q would have been revealed to have been behind the events in Time Squared.)

2) The Royale -- Pointless, boring, and impossible to watch

1) Emergence -- The worst of several Season 7 clunkers (Sub Rosa, Masks, Phantasms, Bloodline, Liaisons, and Eye of the Beholder.)

I think 'Justice' was one of the best episodes. I wish I could find a 'planet of love', somewhere. It definitely isn't this one.

:(

1) Shades of Grey (I don't think I need to explain this one)
2) Code of Honor (I hate Yar and this episode can be seen as racist)
3) Justice (Wesley was a bad character when he was a regular and I don't enjoy seeing a planet full of half-naked people)
4) Force of Nature (You can't make good drama about global problems)
5) Yesterday's Enterprise (I'm serious. I've watched this one at least three times and I still can't enjoy watching it)

-Sub Rosa
-Masks
-Frame of Mind (never liked it)
-The Royale
-Emergence

There's probably 1-2 from S1 that I just can't remember.

I found Troi to be hilarious in "The Loss", I loved it when she told the captain that he didn't know what he was talking about  and when she sniped at Beverly, comedy gold.

As for your dislike of the little girl in "Thine Own Self", that's really weird....although I do agree the Troi subplot was somewhat sub-par.

I'm surprised no-one else has said 'Imaginary Friend'. It's completely unwatchable and the child actors are insufferable.

Wow a lot of episodes I like have been mentioned so far. I can't believe "Time Squared" was listed! It's one of the top ten best, in my opinion. I usually skip watching the TNG episodes I don't like, so my memories of them are a bit fuzzy, but there are a few that were so bad I can't ever forget them (although I'd like to):

1) "Skin of Evil" (Season 1) - Painfully grating and corny. Truly the show at its worst and the lowest point of the series (good thing it happened early). Lamest death in Star Trek. Even worse than some of the awful movie ones.

2) "Samaritan Snare" (Season 2) - Pakleds=most annoying characters ever. I felt like throwing my TV out the window every time they spoke.

3) "The Price" (Season 3) - Scenes of people bickering about a wormhole alternated with nauseating 'seduction' bedroom scenes between Troi and one of them. Half the time I was bored, half the time I was grossed out.

4) "The Outcast" (Season 5) - Shamefully preachy and melodramatic waste of Riker: not the character or actor's finest hour.

5) "Sub Rosa" (Season 7)- I really wanted to like an episode about Dr. Crusher because she's a character I really enjoy who is rarely the focus of an entire episode, but this lame slog was a real wasted opportunity.

(Dis)honourable mention for "Time's Arrow, Part 2" for giving so much dialog and screentime to TNG's version of Mark Twain - the second most annoying character ever on the show and one of its worst written and acted ones.

I don't think "Shades of Grey" is so bad. Everyone always rips on clip episodes because they're by definition cheap and uninspired, but that doesn't mean they're automatically worse than all episodes that are 100% new. At least they try to pick some of the most interesting clips, so that the clip parts of them are nice to watch (and in this case, they pick the only good parts of some terrible episodes, which is an added bonus).
