Your Beautiful Gaming "Photography" (aka Screenshots)

The Lensman

Commodore

This is a thread I've wanted to start for awhile due to the increase in graphics quality over the last decade, especially on consoles. I'm a PS gamer and the 3 had some really nice graphics and the 4 (as well as it's XBox counterparts) took it to the next level so much so that I'd gone from being primarily a PC gamer to console gamer. Years ago a friend of mine told me about a group of "photographers" who went around the GTA map and took more "artistic" type pics (or at least not pics of the usual mayhem) and I've been fascinated with that idea ever since. With the advent of "photo modes" and the ability to take in game pics that allow for limited control over what you're screencapping also shows that other people are interested in this kind of stuff as well. It's a nice way to flex your creative muscles with a bit less effort. Plus it can be addictive as hell, at least for me. I spent more time in the photo mode of the last Arkham game taking photos of 1970's Batman than playing the game LOL!

Anyway, I invite you all to share your beautiful screenshots in this thread. I only ask that you do not post stat screens, level up screens, trophy screens etc. Another thread would suffice for that. And preferably pics with no HUD on them. Otherwise, a general warning for violence, possible spoilers etc. Here's a few of mine to start with so you can get a feel for what I'm talking about.

First up, Shadow of the Colossus. Probably my favorite game of all time. I've played it through more times than any other game, most likely due to it's relatively short nature. The PS4 version was a real treat with vastly improved graphics, photo mode and different filters that could be used while playing. I played in BW mode and it felt like an epic as shit Kurasawa film from the 50's. Mirror mode was the closest to playing the game for the first time all over again.

What's shaping up to be my second favorite game of all time, Ghost of Tsushima. I've probably got 700 screencaps as this game is just freaking beautiful in a way other games aren't. The Japanese aesthetic is a massively refreshing change, and the addition of a BW mode called, fittingly enough "Kurasawa Mode" is how I played most of the game in the first go round. I wandered back to it as a friend was playing it, and I guess I'm doing a second playthrough. A Directors Cut is coming out next month and I believe it will contain the add on Ghost of Ikishima as well...they've announced additions to the photomode, so can't wait to explore a new island and see new vista's.

Some game about a bug themed hero...aka, the definitive Spider-Man game. Lot's of screenies from this one to, but don't want to over do it.

And finally, from Assassin's Creed Odyssey. I bought this game when it was cheap just because I love open world games and I'd already beaten Ghost of Tsushima. Nowhere near done with it, but I found the realization of Ancient Greece to be amazing in it's detail and color. So much so that when Assassin's Creed Origin's was likewise cheap, I picked it up in order to explore an as exquisitely realized Ancient Egypt as well. Odyssey was my first AC game and I enjoyed it as the mechanics were very similar to GoT. That both Odyssey and Origin's have a "historical mode" that allows you to just roam the world with no enemies and take in the sights was an added bonus. I'm glad when games think outside the box like that, especially for those gamers who might like history, but not all the messy combat and grinding.

Anyways.....let's see your beautiful game shots!

Those are some awesome images! I particularly like 5 and 6. I'd always heard that game had great graphics, glad to see that was true. Hope to see more and well done!

Between Ghosts of Tsushima and Horizon Zero Dawn, I can't quite decide what looks better. They both look so good.

They really do!

Here's a few more from Ghost of Tsushima

Those are some lovely shots Tosk! Is that shot of the Sanctum Sanctorum from the Miles Morales game? At the moment, I can't recall it being draped in snow in the base game, though I could be wrong. Also, that last shot is fantastic! What game is that from? Tomb Raider / Uncharted?

It is!

Yep, Uncharted 4 I think. To be totally honest, that one might actually be a screencap of a cutscene, I don't catalogue the shots I save I just keep them 'cause I like them. :)

Here's some taken in Jedi: Fallen Order...

Ahh, Minecraft, now that's a game I haven't played in such a long time. Feels like another life. We had a server here that I played on for a while.

It’s constantly evolving. If you haven’t played in a long time, it probably feels completely new by now. And come December it will change even more. The new 1.18 snapshot introduced completely overhauled terrain generation and I am really looking forward to that.

Oh yeah, I know. The plus of constant updates has been the contstant new features. I can't remember what had been added the last time I played. I think it might have been the animals you could tame.

Not sure when that was. I only started shortly after they revamped the nether.
But it sounds like quite a bit back.
You basically got an entirely new game now!

It was so long ago I don't remember my Minecraft password anymore. It was before they merged the accounts with Microsoft. and I hadn't gone through the conversion, so I'm not even sure if it's still valid anymore.

Some absolutely stunning images and makes me realise what I've missed out on by always getting by on a shoestring. I was never in to upgrading more than I needed to and even now I'm playing without a GPU because I don't need one. Everything runs ok so I don't need the expense of adding one unless I want to increase the graphics settings. I have to admit I realised how much I had missed out when I enabled distant lands in Oblivion on my new PC. No GPU in it but the onboard graphics was enough to leave me in awe at how I could see towns from other towns. Stand at the outpost on Cloud Ruler Temple and see the houses of Bruma. I had never seen this type of detail before and it was only a few years ago. If only I had a decent PC in 2006 when I first bought Oblivion to experience that kind of gaming.

An old Oblivion game with my two confidants Gabrielle Renee on the left and Vilja. Both very reliable followers and in this snap we are all pretty much invincible. I'm wearing armour added by the Ancient Towers mod. As you can see not great graphics but it played smooth.
