After much deliberation, I created an avatar depicting all the Enterprise captains in the Abramsverse. It's a reaction to the discussion about ENT being the only series happenig in both universes.
So basically, I included Archer just to annoy the hell out of all the ENT haters.

My avatar is the badge of the Palmach, or 'Striking Companies', they were the commando force of the Haganah or Jewish militias in what would later become the state of Israel and form the Israeli Defense Force. The Palmach were instrumental in protecting kibbutzim from marauding Arab militias and several of its members would become prominent figures in the Israeli Defense Force and the Knesset for decades to come after the 1940s.
Mine is one of my favorite topological surfaces, the Real Projective Plane immersed in Euclidean 3-space. In this version of my avatar I've added a rotation to the animation.
Personally I like the non-symmetric immersions of it better, but I only know how to create those by hand (using pencil and paper).

Mine is an image of Florence Ambrose from the comic "Freefall" by Mark Stanley (with express permission from Mr. Stanley to use an image of Florence as my avatar). She's the Chief Engineer of the good ship Savage Chicken, Captained by the illustrious (and sneaky) Sam Starfall. It's a terrific comic, and Florence is my favorite character (though the others get very close).

Especially since I switched from this ol' CRT monitor -with the thick layer of glass) to a flat LCD monitor with only a mm or a ½ of plastic between it and me!
