Young Justice-Tonight!

Yeah I'm not getting the Japanese super baby thing...and it did seem like she was falling for superman.

On the role, I find most of the shorts to be terrible. The exception being the Titans and Superbest friends.

It's still hard to accept some guy called SPORTSMASTER as a serious villain, but hey, most of the names are goofy, right? Maybe he can get magic powers and become SPORTSCASTER. :p

I always laugh the first time I hear his name in an episode. Of course, I guess any name that's been around for 65 years might sound funny to contemporary ears. "Superman" and "Wonder Woman" would probably sound stupid if we hadn't grown up with them and heard them for the first time now.

What do ninja weapons have to do with Cheshire cats?

Ninjas, like the Cheshire Cat, have a reputation for appearing and disappearing unpredictably, and sometimes for perching on tree branches. Wasn't Cheshire in a tree when we first saw her here?

Batman probably knows everything about Artemis. Hell, he's probably her real dad.

No, Batman wouldn't have any illegitimate kids, because he always takes time to prepare. ;)

I'd like those teen titan shorts if they had stuck with the original designs, no giant headed/small bodied whatever you call that.

The chibi-style characters were part of the original show's designs. They showed up intermittently in sight gags and humorous asides, as chibis tend to do.

Japanese Superman/baby is messed up.

I believe that's the idea. It's supposed to be bizarre.

I did like the blase babysitter helping Baby Superman take flight.

OK...who's idea was it to throw in the TARDIS?

"Written by Peter David." That about says it all.

Yes, but for nearly 60 years DC had the sense of taste not to use him.

Maybe they did, maybe they didn't.

I only ever recall seeing in Him in Golden Age and a Superman comic form the late ninties.

I mean as an Alan Scott Green Lantern Rogue, a super powerful her with godlike powers yet who has a weakness against wood, Sportsmaster is practically Alan's version of the kryptonite man, but that's an incredibly small niche to be regarded as an alpha level threat within.

He popped up in some of the JLA/JSA crossovers, in the 70s run of All-Star Comics and I think in Infinity Inc. He was also cloned by the Council, foes of the Manhunter. ( Paul Kirk version), to serve as their assassins. He's world class athlete who use sports themed weapons. Is that any sillier than boomerangs or birds?

He beats people with a hockey stick until they give him their money.

It's not that it's silly.

It's that I could do that.

They say that any one could be Batman with decades of intense training and a billion dollars?

Well.

Anyone could be Sportsmaster with no training and 20 bucks for a baseball bat from JC Penny.

Not everyone can be a top tier villain Guy. You have to have the easily beaten scum as well. I was really hoping the Brain would get some lines this week but we had to suffer with Klarion doing all the talking.

If that was a accurate description of his MO, you might have a point.

From the wiki:

Crock uses sporting-themed weapons such as exploding baseballs, flying bases, rocket baseball bats, knockout basketballs, lacrosse snare nets, exploding hockey pucks.
He's a gimmick villain, like most of the Rogues Galleries seen in Batman and Flash comics ( to name but two)

When I first watched "Legends" I had no idea that Sportsman was a parody of Sportsmaster.

Does the masked version we see in Young Justice predate or follow Casey Jones from the TMNT? Because he always reminds me of that, is that maybe an homage or did he look like that before?

^Natural evolution of the character. He is always worn a mask, it's just that they changed it to a hockey mask.

Didn't Black Spider appear in an earlier episode? And not acting so webslingerish.

He was shooting webs in the episode with the League of Shadows where he was trying to assassinate that scientist lady.

I really liked this episode. I've liked Artemis a lot since they introduced her, and I really liked what was done with her in this episode. I have read up some on her comics backstory, but I either missed or forgot about who her parents were, so I did not see the two reveals in the episode coming.

I was just looking at the episode guide on wikipedia, and apparently there will be no break between seasons. The finale, "Auld Acquaintance" will air April 21, and then the season 2 (aka Invasion) premier, "Happy New Year!" will air on April 28.

Haw!
The Parasite!

I love that guy. Took me a little while to place him because he was presented so differently, but I called out his name about thirty seconds before they revealed it on the show.

Red Arrow is Mr Suspicious and then in the end "none of you guys could be a mole".

Unless they didn't know they were. Red Arrow is a dummy.

But what really had me wondering, in a world where meta humans are known to exist...would a circus still have that much wonder to it. "We swear these are talented normal humans performing!"

Well they know these regular humans could get hurt or even die(like Robin's parents)doing this stuff unlike most Metas who wouldn't so there's the suspense to see if they make through in one piece.
