Young Justice-Tonight!

I liked Billy/Marvel too in this episode.

But one thing that's starting to get on my nerves is that I'm starting to tire of all the plans within plans and distractions that seem to be just stretching everything out as much as anything else. I'd like to get to what it's really all about now, you know? I feel too much in the dark after this many episodes.

That was also a rather impressive spell. Doctor Fate really is needed, if that's what they're up against.

All this said, I think I would have liked the episode better if it had been a two-parter, less rushed, with more tension, and more revelations.

^ Best not to think about that I'd say. Then again, this 'verse's Klarion seems to make the Joker look reasonable and balanced (not a comment on this 'verse's Joker btw) so I'd imagine he doesn't care too much.

Overall I really liked this one. I liked how it focused on two of the "supporting" characters (Zee and Marvel) and used them both really well. Now the team knows Marvel's identity, how do you think they'll feel towards him? More protective? It's probably safe to say Batman already knew, being Batman, but I can't imagine Fate will bother to tell anybody Marvel's identity is a kid and the only other Leaguer that would know is Tornado. And even those three don't know his specific identity. Part of me was expecting the girl Billy went to for help to be Mary, but maybe he doesn't know her in this universe yet? The lore usually has them separately adopted, right?

I'm glad Zatanna's part of the time permanently now, but oh the cost. It was a nicely done conclusion to Zatara's part of the story; I liked him and even if it wasn't terribly surprising that he accepted Nabu's helmet it was touchingly done. I do somewhat wonder how the League, let alone the team, will feel about Fate? Supremely powerful (and thus far always awesomely presented even when not being overwhelmingly powerful), but kind of a jerk, no?

The others didn't get much to do, but some wonderful little touches throughout. Artemis singing to keep the kids calm/happy was a fun little moment, the sort-of-montage with the team reuniting with family, Robin being supportive of Zee. Uncle Dudley's moments I thought were surprisingly well-done for being less than a minute overall.

The fact that the whole thing was a distraction actually helped the Light's plan I thought, in that it shows that they have a larger plan and even "defeats" aren't actually setbacks. Very Xanatos, which is to be expected for a Weisman show. ;)

For a second I thought Artemis had a trick ball-of-yarn arrow. :)

I can't help but wonder about the countless deaths that must have been generated. I think the same thing with that Buffalo Wild Wings ad where they shut off the city's power grid so some guy can catch the game. I know suspension of disbelief and all that.

And Zatara should have said "Yeah, right..." to Dr. Fate after Zatanna took off the mask. ;)

Yeah. Glossing over the issues [deaths, severe injuries, hunger, civil strife] that would result was one of the problems I had with the episode.

Lol. Not sure if you're joking or not, but I'd accept that his magical karma (or whatever) would suffer if he had lied, and he'd have seen a dropping off in his abilities. Words are a part, at least, of his magical abilities, and he gave his word. ;)

Apparently CN wants to revive the old tradition of Saturday morning cartoons. Though it seems odd to anchor it with older-skewing shows like YJ and Green Lantern: TAS.
It's probably because they assume that Saturday mornings are largely populated by those who don't have lessons or activities on Saturdays. In other words, older audiences.

Yeah. Glossing over the issues [deaths, severe injuries, hunger, civil strife] that would result was one of the problems I had with the episode.

The deaths and injuries (of children) they glossed over, but I didn't get the impression it lasted long enough for hunger to become an issue; it seemed like a matter of hours to me. And they actually dealt, albeit briefly, with civil strife in both worlds with the team telling kids worldwide in many languages to not go wild and for the older ones to step up, and the (villain-sparked?) riot outside Star Labs which saw clashes between police and civilians.

And he actually said some sort of spell, too. Perhaps some sort of "binding himself to don the Helmet of Fate" spell so Nabu would let Zatanna go?

So was that piece of tentacle in the container Starro?

...But its been heavily implied last season that The Light works for/with Darkseid. What would Darkseid need or want with Starro?

The backwards "spell" he said was simply "ekaT em daetsni" -- "Take me instead." Sounds like just a request, but since he said it "magically," I guess it was some kind of spell to ensure it would happen. (And it always bugs me when they interpret "backward" as reversing the individual words but keeping them in the same order. Shouldn't the sentence be reversed as a whole?)

Young Justice

Red Arrow’s return undercuts Artemis’ confidence, while the team’s mission to track down Sportsmaster threatens to expose her darkest secrets.

Why was Amber (or whatever her name was) falling out of the sky? The plane would have existed in both worlds, just like the cars and everything else. From her perspective, she should have just seen Billy disappear from the plane at the stroke of midnight.

Nabu isn't "kind of a jerk", he's superpowered unfeeling bastard. And he's as much a threat as anyone they've fought so far. Lord Of Order does not mean Good.

The plane took off after the disappearances with her as the pilot. She couldn't have done that in both universes.

I might have missed something, but the only Apokalips reference I remember was Desaad's appearance; was there anything in that episode to indicate he (or Darkseid) are working with the Light?

A reasonable point, but the Zatara/Zatanna magic-style doesn't seem to have "spells" as such (like Wotan uses) but more magically fulfilling whatever they say (backwards), so maybe they can add/change stuff as the sentence goes along?

Sounds like I'll get to find out if my theory about Megan is right with this episode...

Well true, but Fate has always been on the side of good, at least large-scale; presumably Kent Nelson had some measure of control? Will be interesting to see if Zatara-Fate is as much of a cold unfeeling bastard as Nabu alone is. At the very least, Lords of Order seem less directly damaging to the world than Lords of Chaos.

The plane took off after the disappearances with her as the pilot. She couldn't have done that in both universes.

Good catch!

Pretty good ep...good pace at the beginning but it felt rushed from half way point on...given they only have about 22 minutes...it is understandable.

You're are this was like a 20ish issue month long cross over extravaganza in the comics some years back?

Mostly standalone one shots, but nether the less, that's an awful lot of material to ignore.

Well the fact that Desaad was supplying the Intergang (who work for The Light) with weapons in the first place implies that Darkseid is responsible.
