Young Justice-Tonight!

Jerome K. Moore, one of the show's artists, posted this sketch of Dick Grayson, along with some more info for "Schooled".

From the clip for "Schooled" Dick looks alot like Bruce.

I think it's cool that Jerome Moore is one of the show's character designers. I became aware of him through the gorgeous cover art he did for DC and Malibu's Star Trek comics back in the early '90s or thereabouts.

"Brom Stikk" -- what an odd character name. I haven't heard of him before. But I noted (when he appeared in the Mr. Twister episode) that he was voiced by John DeLancie. Along with Rene Auberjonois as Desmond, it looks like Weisman's resuming his Gargoyles tradition of casting Trek actors.

Never heard of the "Brick" guy either. I don't think they even gave his name when he appeared in the teaser of episode 3.

Really? :wtf:

"Schooled": Another good one. Nice to see them dealing with the Superman/Superboy issue. I'm not crazy about Superboy's character so far, but he showed a hint of starting to grow out of it. And I loved seeing the Clark/Bruce interaction. Nice to see the secret identities in play.

I noticed on the map they showed that Metropolis is apparently in Connecticut, around where Bridgeport is in reality, I think. And Gotham is somewhat south of there, but still within a few hours' travel by freeway and train. Maybe somewhere in New Jersey?

I liked Ivo's line, "And after all the trouble I went to finding an acronym for 'monkey'" (though it actually spelled MONQI). Too bad they copped out of explaining what AMAZO is an acronym for. However, Robin's wordplay continues to grate. It's always the same thing, dropping prefixes from words. It's very tiresome.

One thing that bugged me a bit was that the opening bridge disaster was pretty much a shot-by-shot replay of the Golden Gate Bridge sequence from Superman: The Movie. A little homage is okay, but that's taking it to the point of slavish imitation.

Mister Twister aka Brom Stikk ( broomstick, get it?:p ) was the first villain the Teen Titans fought in Brave and Bold#54.

Brick was a villain in the Green Arrow series before the current one.

Looks like Superboy is picking up on it, too. :sigh:

On the other hand, I can probably live with that as long as I never hear, "Hel-lo, Megan!" again. :scream:

Man, these guys have had some serious threats in the last couple of episodes. I guess as long as they follow the Voltron rule of only creating *one* beastie at a time they stand a chance but if they ever start to build more than one of these androids...

^Only thing there that's interesting to me is how quickly they seem to have managed to substitute one character for another while otherwise redoing the same animation. I guess that's a lot easier with modern digital animation than it would've been with cels.

"Infiltrators". Finally we get, uh, this is Mia, right? I wish we got more A list villains though. I only know about Cheshire because of Secret Six. Who were the others? The extremely familiar spider-man? The dude with the hook hand? The cyclops eye blast guy? And who was the leader supposed to be?

How could Roy make the jump from Speedy to Red Arrow without being Arsenal? The team is really looking more like a combination of new and old Teen Titans to me. Then again, this is the DCAU. And what is Artemis' dirty little secret that Roy and Cheshire know about? Very good episode.

Artemis (thinking telepathically looking at Superboy): Mmm ... that boy.
Ms Martian: He can hear you. We can all hear you.
Artemis: I know.

It was good, but how can Artemis keep her identity secret if they're all reading each other's thoughts? Though the extended scenes of them communicating telepathically were funny (and saved work for the people responsible for lip-synch animation).

So that was Cheshire? I've vaguely heard of her. Someone involved with Arsenal (aka Speedy/Red Arrow/Roy), right? I'm wondering who played her. She had a very sexy -- and familiar -- voice.

And can we see more of the cute green girl in a bikini? Green is good...

"Infiltrators". Finally we get, uh, this is Mia, right?

I dunno, there seems to be more of a mystery to Artemis's identity. Then again, I only know Mia/Speedy from Smallville, but I think I read that her origin there was pretty faithful, and I seem to recall she was a runaway/orphan/something who grew up on the streets, which fits what Artemis said about having to confront people to survive.

I don't mind if the show makes use of characters who haven't been seen in animation before; in fact, I like it. I just wish the show would name them more often.

Because it's a different continuity. And perhaps because "Arsenal" is too violent a name for a 7 PM show on Cartoon Network?

The team is really looking more like a combination of new and old Teen Titans to me. Then again, this is the DCAU.

No, it's "Earth-16." A totally different continuity from the DCAU (which means Batman: TAS, Superman: TAS, Justice League/JL Unlimited, Batman Beyond, Static Shock, and The Zeta Project only). DC's new Batman Beyond comic is said to be in "Earth-12," which might mean that's the multiverse designation for the DCAU.

They seemed like rejects like from the Generator Rex cartoon.

So what you're saying is that YJ is a totally different universe from the rest of the DCAU. Okay, I get that. What I'm saying is that the character line-up for this show is different from YJ comic continuity--e.g., Bart Allen as Impluse, Tim Drake as Robin, et al, who would later become Teen Titans members themselves, whereas Wally West and Dick Grayson were original Titans. Ms. Martian is also a comic book TT character; thus I said they're looking like a combination of old and new Titans, except we don't have Donna Troy or Cassie Sandsmark as Wonder Girl.

This is the first episode I've watched that I've liked. I sort of figured that Artemis was the potential mole early on though. I liked Chesire, I thought she was well depicted. The other guys, Black Spider (?) and the guy with the hook, I wish they had been named. Also, was that Sensei with the League of Shadows? I like the League of Shadows name better than the League of Assassins, so I'm glad they are using that. I did like the black suits for YJ, particularly Kid Flash. I also liked the tiff between KF and Artemis.

Is that Justin Hartley doing Red Arrow's voice.

Young Justice is basically a version of the Teen Titans comic book with a few alterations here and there. Wonder Girl is supposed to be making an appearance soon. This doesn't take place in the DCAU. The DCAU is effectively dead as of the last episode of JLU. As Christopher indicated this takes place in Earth-16 (different from the Earth 16 listed on Wikipedia mind you) a younger Earth where events and heroes have developed more slowly than other realities.
