Young Justice-Tonight!

For pete's sake Nightwing is making an apperance at some point.

I think you can see Lobo's feet on the screen in the background, so he'll be appearing in the first episode. Maybe the season will start with a flash forward and we'll see what happens if the invasion is successful and the rest of the season will be about preventing that future.

I'm thinking time travel or flash forward too. So far most of what we've seen has shown the characters pretty much the same age as they were in S1.

Ha. The text used for the Justice Leage is identical to the one used in the first two seasons of the DCAU Justice League.

Okay so there will be an episode dealing with time

Invasion: 204 - Salvage
Original Airdate - May 19th, 2012
While Superboy and Blue Beetle battle Intergang, Nightwing and company try to salvage the soul of a former comrade fallen from grace.

Sounds more like a plot for a "Star Trek" episode

With the show now 5 years in the future, it sounds more like they are going to show what happened in the past 5 years to one of the characters that wasn't in the first episode.

The only one missing was Kid Flash, wasn't it?

I didn't see Aqualad and Artemis anywhere either.

What? I don't see anything time-related in that description. It's about the team trying to redeem someone who's in disgrace.

I'm not sure how I feel about this huge change in the show. It's interesting to have the opportunity to learn about the new characters, but I miss the old ones like Kaldur and Artemis and Wally. It's just too much change all at once. (And that Lagoon Boy is rather annoying, a poor substitute for Aqualad.) I mean, we were just starting to get to know Zatanna and had barely met Rocket, and now they're both off the Team and on the JL? That doesn't seem fair. And I would've liked to see how Barbara became Batgirl, where all these other new characters came from, things like that. I mean, I'm aware of most of them already (except Lagoon Boy), but I would've liked to see them established one by one within this show's continuity rather than just being sprung on us five years later.

I was struck by Nightwing/Dick saying "Just don't die, okay?" to Robin/Tim. It made me think maybe Jason Todd was Robin between them and "A Death in the Family" happened. Although it also makes me wonder what might've happened to the season 1 team members we didn't see here.

The best part of all this was probably the fact that Glorious Godfrey is played by none other than Tim Curry! He used to do a lot of voiceover work, but it's been a while since I've heard him in anything new.

I was hoping the season 2 opener would lead to someone having to jump back 5 years to prevent that future from occurring. Disappointed if they stay in this setting.

I appreciate using the same voice for Nightwing as a show of continuity, but it sounds like he didn't go through puberty. Also have always hated the black and red Robin costume. The previous one looked better.

While I love the fact that Dick is now Nightwing and Tim (Drake-Wayne) is Robin...I have to admit that for people unfamiliar with the Robin legacy that had to be confusing.

Is Superboy not aging? I know that was a potential issue in the old Young Justice comic...that Connor might be stuck at his current age. Eveyone else certainly seemed older, but he looked the same.

At some point they are going to need to fill in that 5 year gap.

Where are Wally, Artemis and Kaldur? (I guess Wally could be the new Flash)
What happened between Connor and M'gann?
Why did the JL expand so rapidly?
Where did all of these other heroes come from?

On a side not, I actually really like Blue Beetle. I've always been a fan of Ted Kord, but the depiction of Jaime as always slightly surprised by what he can do is kind of fun.

I found the time jump jarring. Wonder if any kids who watch could figure it out. (yeah, like kids watch this show)

Lobo was lackluster...I guess Brad Garrett's version left more of an impression on me than I thought. Though, I was unfamiliar with the character before Superman TAS.

*meh* blonde Wonder Girl. Downgrade from the brunette. Supergirl and Powergirl got the blonde super female thing covered (or uncovered depending on what you are looking at).

Lagoon Boy...Superboy must be pissed to be traded for that guy.

There's a bunch of characters who won't get action figures. I heard the toy line is getting cancelled.

Jesse McCartney, who plays Dick, is 25 years old. So there's no reason Dick couldn't have that voice at 18. If anything, the 13-year-old Dick of season 1 had the voice of someone who'd already gone through puberty. Otherwise he would've had to be voiced by a woman or an actual child.

The show probably won't be far behind then.

The time skip was ridiculously jarring. If this wasn't the only DC animated team show on, I'd probably stop watching.

I'm wondering if Weisman got tired of having his intricately plotted story arcs cancelled in the middle (Gargoyles, The Spectacular Spider-Man) and decided to jump straight to the climax this time.

In the fragile world of cartoons being cancelled after a few seasons I suspect someone wanted to rush things ahead.

Weisman probably learned a few things after "Spectacular Spider-man"

Imagine two seasons of just the Young Justice team building up characterization.

Only to be cancelled after.

So they hypothetically cut out that type of season and fast forwarded their plan to do something big like "Invasion"

I enjoyed this episode. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season. I do hope the airing schedule is more consistent than season one.

I love the little continuity nods. Due to overdoing the fastforward on the DVR (yeah, I time shift), I saw the "newsperson" and immediately new it'd be G. Gordon Godfrey. I also was excited to see Catherine Cobert, the League's UN Liason during the days of Justice League International/Justice League Europe.

I'm not familiar with the Superman version but I agree with you nonetheless. He seemed to be "serioused" up a bit to fit with Young Justice's idea of what adults are like.

I liked Batgirl though. Ditching Aqualad and moving Rocket to the big leagues does lowers the diversity a bit. EDIT: oops, forgot about Bumblebee or whatever, that character didn't seem so memorable ;)

Lagoon Boy...Superboy must be pissed to be traded for that guy.

No shit! I'm not sure how he can live with that, I'd want to be on a different squad or something. Doesn't seem like MM's type, either.

i expect all the gaps in the time jump will be filled in. that, or things will be reset eventually.
