You F---ing a--hole

Many people say that they hate RATED R movies because of the cuss words coming out of the mouths of the characters. But having watched ALIENS last week? I don't think the movie would have been as good if they cleaned up words with PG words. Hudson's use of 'colorful metaphors' helps the movie easy to see time after time...

Can you think of other movies that really need the four letter words? Or do you think its over done, and they should shy away from it???

Having people use "colorfull metaphors" just makes them a little bit more realistic.. who didn't swear when under stress and something went wrong?

I can't imagine Tarantino or Rodriguez movies without swearing...

Many professionals don't swear when something goes wrong. It's a distraction in a time when succinct communication is needed, and it reflects poorly on them and whatever organization they represent. People who have been raised to be fairly polite usually don't swear much, and that tends to affect the people around them. In mixed-age groups the young tend to moderate their speaking around their elders, and adults moderate their speech around children.

A certain amount of swearing is realistic; it depends on the context and the character. Some creators may go a bit overboard; in those cases, it is style, not realism, that drives the creative choices. Or maybe the creators have spent their lives in a fairly isolated environment and think everyone really does swear constantly.

I've tried watching heavily censored versions of Pulp Fiction. One just bleeped everything out (the the point that you couldn't understand a single line almost), the other tried using the lame switcheroo method. Both were horrible, horrible travesties that only emphasized the profanity rather than masking it.

Personally I don't get why people get their feathers ruffled over it. Words only have as much power as you give them, and the more outraged you act when you hear something like "fuck," the worse it becomes for you.

"You know, I remember when I was a young executive at this company. I used to call the old man funny names. Ironbutt... boner... once I even called him... AIRHEAD."

Who are these "many people" complaining about this? Most of the times I see fans complaining that sf and horror movies aren't R-rated enough . . . .

Yeah, right  I've worked for my share of professionals, from former military to well educated lawyers. All of them could drop some bombs at the appropriate moment to convey their feelings.

Who? Maybe we just see things from our own worlds but I think they must be in the minority.

Maybe its a parenting thing. I cant tell you how many parents I meet who complain about the use of these words, even in PG13 movies..heck..even PG. I rented ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING, and old movie from the 80s and was shocked to hell when the F word was dropped....

"See what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?"

this one is my absolute favorite. i laughed harder at this than i did the real version of the movie

Dudes..what is the real line? My mind is drawing a blank..

Rob

"See what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass?"

I think my favorite censored line, other than the one from Die Hard 2, is this little gem from Ghostbusters: "Everything was fine until the grid was shut down by Wally Wick here."

Only moments later in that same scene, another hilarious censor occurs: "Yes sir, it's true. This man is some kind of rodent. I don't know which." :vulcan:

Soldiers talk like that. I am one, I know. To censor that would have taken me right out of it.
