"Yorktown: A Time to Heal" - Official thread for the Sulu fan film!

As I understand it, the video and FX edit is still locked, and they’re still working on the sound edit for consistency and quality. The project lead was sidetracked this month by a loss in the family, but work will continue.

Just trying to catch up.......last I heard was X-Mas then it slipped a week till Dec 31st...........I got busy with stuff. Just realized it was mid-April and wanted to check in.

Still waiting on sound. John noted more recently that a few visual tweaks were being made as well. It’ll happen when it happens, I suppose, but it’ll be worth the wait, I know. :)

Let`s rename this film the Sasquatch, or Nessie ? (long rumoured to exist, only a very few individuals catching a glimpse of it)

Thought everything was locked except sound months ago? I’ll just put this in the pile with that Pike film for now.

I am one of those kooks who claims to have seen it.

No no, that's not a man in a Yorktown suit. Really.

The sound mix was the main thing missing, yeah. I wish they hadn't given release dates until the thing was done done.

When we finally announced a date for TTI there was a finished version of the film ready to go, so while there were a few more weeks of fiddling by the Exec. Producer, had he not delivered we would have released that other version as scheduled.

At some point you have to finally say, "Good enough," and let it out there.

Heh, agreed - and I'm a comedy improvisor. We abandon stuff on stage with alarming regularity, and promptly forgot we ever did it.

As for ATTH, the way I read it is that the edit was indeed locked, but the sound mix person(s) are taking their time to get it right, and that in the meantime John's gone back to tweak some visuals (namely fixing / animating some displays on the bridge scenes, per pictures posted on Facebook). Nothing wrong with that IMO.

While I also wish this were out and done with, the realities of volunteer-based production are things you can simply never predict...

The edit is 100% finished, with one exception: the sound mix. We are still working on it and hope to have that done within a few weeks. We added a few new VFX shots and some minor touchups in March. The film itself has never looked better. The music score is being slightly altered right now to flow with the new cut.

Thanks John. While fan frustration at missed dates is inevitable, we're none of us angry when a fan film is released. Fight the good fight, sir! We're all waiting and excited for the final product.
