Yet another reboot theory.

I think it’s all just a big multi-verse. And we’ve just happened to be watching 4-5 of the thousands (as seen in TNG’s Parallels) out there. To me alternate timelines are more like the “future” parts of All Good Things and Endgame or the brief glimpse of the Borgafied Earth in FC.

I go with Three Timelines. Always have. I don't necessarily agree with the First Contact route, but my idea follows the DC Comics model:

TOS-ENT = Pre-Crisis
DSC & on = Post-Crisis

Very early TOS Season 1 stuff is "Earth 2", if you know what that is.

I think Section 31 may have been created with First Contact. Without that, Morrow and Cartwright would not have been as much of a pain. That’s what I call the TMP timeline. TWOK onwards has Section 31…at least gathering steam. Voyager’s trip to Earth and Voyage Home gave us the remastered look.

The Enterprise-Disco timeline came after debris from Narada found it’s way even farther back…tainting the Prime timeline after budding off Kelvin.

The NX-01, the Romulan Aenar probe, and other advances came out of Narada bits found here and there. NX-01 is replaced by the Discovery Enterprise later refit directly into what we see in Star Trek II TWOK…having the thermocoat the TMP refit lacked in TMP…the militaristic ST II uniforms come earlier. There’s your reboot. Section 31 gets stronger once again…a shadow government that gets into power after Ent-D goes down…the Sovereign class being their Vengeance….leading to what we see in PICARD.

The TMP timeline gave us TNG…kept TOS events that allowed DS9 crew to visit tribbles. NX-01 was a one-off thanks to Daniels giving plans from another timeline…Daedalus classes the norm not seen in Discovery…or looking like EC Henry ships.

Narada debris wrecked that and spawned the Discovery timeline.

And TMP was the last we saw of the original Star Trek.

"The Borg are everywhere! You don't know what it's like!!! WE WON"T GO BACK!!!!!"

I thought the “Bajorans overthrew the Cardassian Empire” universe sounded like an interesting “what if…” given that they probably went all in on being a Theocracy.

I think it would be nuts if FC didn't change history, profoundly. Consider that every single member of Cochrane's ground crew and his two cockpit crew as well were killed in the initial Borg attack. You mean to tell me that none of them did anything in the original timeline.

Rando Enterprise Crewmember: "Listen, I know everyone knows Captain Sisko looks like Gabriel Bell. But has anyone noticed how Zefram Cochrane's flight crew Chet Manly and Randy Randerson look like Commander Riker and Commander LaForge? Or the guy who installed the coils looks like Reg Barclay? And Countess McCountdown looks like Counselor Troi?" :p:guffaw:

The shows just need to add some text at the beginning of episodes to indicate that everything is occurring in the same universe and how everything looks is determined by the filming styles and techniques of the time and fans need to stop overthinking it.*
Something like: "This is a true story. The events depicted took place in the Alpha Quadrant in 2151. At the request of the individuals involved the names have been changed. Out of respect for the dead the rest has been told exactly as it occurred."
*(It doesn't actually need this text).

(**) DISCLAIMER: 'The dead' do not include people that died, but whose deaths were undone later in the same episode or in a later episode.
(***) Any similarities to characters from parallel universes is purely coincidental. Unless we want them not to be coincidental (which is, frankly, most of the time).
