"Yesterday's Enterprise" Line-by-Line

Yar: Okay, Castillo.

 

[Leandar]

Castillo: No, I think maybe I'd like it better if you called me Richard.

 

[ChristopherPike]

Tasha: (love light in her eyes) "Richard."

 

[Brian]

PICARD [V.O.]: This is the Captain. Senior officers will report to my Ready room immediately.

 

[LeadHead]

Yar: So much for lunch.

Yar and Castillo leave Ten-Forward. Yar looks back at Guinan, feeling that something is wrong.

 

[ChristopherPike]

Picard's Ready Room and the senior staff are all crammed in there. We don't see Picard at first but the camera settles on each of their faces, as they debate a decision he's already made.

Crusher: "Captain, are you suggesting that we let them return and attempt to complete their mission?"

 

[Leandar]

Picard: I am, Doctor.

 

[ChristopherPike]

Crusher: (disbelieving) "Based on Guinan's intuition?"

 

[Leandar]

Riker: That won't accomplish anything sir, there's no way they can save Narendra III.

 

[ChristopherPike]

Tasha: "Captain Garrett said there were four Romulan warbirds.

The Enterprise-C would be outmanned and outgunned."

 

[CoveTom]

LAFORGE: Unless we were to re-arm them with modern...

 

[ChristopherPike]

Picard: "We can't do that.

If we send that ship back with new technology, we will be altering the past."

 

[CoveTom]

RIKER: But that's what you're talking about any way, isn't it? Altering the past?

 

[Leandar]

Picard: We're talking about restoring the past.

 

[CoveTom]

LAFORGE: How could Guinan know that history has been altered if she's been altered along with the rest of us?

 

[Leandar]

Data: Perhaps her species has a perception that goes beyond linear time.

 

[CoveTom]

PICARD: There are many things about her species we can't easily explain. Yet it is very possible she is correct. A ship from the past has traveled through time. How can we know what effect those events will have on the present. Indeed, we shall never know for certain if Guinan is correct. But I have decided the consequences of that possibility are too grave to ignore. Dismissed.

 

[Unicron]

RIKER: Sir, if you'd like my opinion --

 

[CoveTom]

PICARD: I think I'm aware of your opinion, Commander. This is a briefing. I'm not seeking your consent.

 

[Unicron]

RIKER: With all due respect, sir, you'd be asking 125 people to die a meaningless death.

(I suppose it's good I can remember the dialogue this well, since YE is my personal favorite. )
