I
The Bismarck-class Enterprise from FF was a deliberate departure from the established style of Starfleet's Enterprises.
In this image, you make it look graceful. I am impressed!

Given the setting of the show, do you think it would've turned into the NCC-1701-I ( i ) eventually?
It def would have a better path than the condition of the current 32nd century era we've been presented with....

^I do like that design, but not as an Enterprise. I've been meaning to do a version of that one
Also, I like imgur for linking images myself

Anyway, here's some work on the shuttle bay area. I also started connecting the neck to the saucer, you can kind of see it in this image

We haven't actually gotten confirmation from him yet that it is sub-D, but yeah, judging by the mellifluous curves and fillets, he woulda spend a stupid amount of time* doing all of that with traditional poly modeling.

* - says the guy who until a month ago did everything exactly that way, so trust me, I know from stoopid.

Ooooh, I like the control tower! :techman:

I hope that you saved yourself some anguish and designed those clamshell doors with a profile that’s physically possible to fold open. Right now I’m struggling with how to animate the clamshells on the TOS Enterprise. :brickwall:

Haha I'll post a crude sketch of how I'm going to do it. The ones you see are just place holders for now. They'll look the same on the outside, but I'm going to rig everything once I do the inside of the shuttlebay.

Really nice work, I like the details you created like the nacelle pylon bases and the rework around the neck. :mallory::techman:

Thanks!

That is some clean Sub-D work. I'm jealous.

I have done that as well haha! Though this baby is a combo of both methods. Here's a before and after sub-d:

Is he oggling its shiny metal ass?
lol

Nice subd on the engineering hull :techman: I too am curious if you're freezing the polys and at what step you model the portholes. :) (I've given up on subd portholes on my current model.) :brickwall:

Now I call that a working ship. Still put a done on top for a weapons turret to give cover for any shuttles that might have an X-wing on its tail ;)

Ah, so you are sub-D modeling parts of the ship and then freezing the polys?

Yeah, I do the main body with sub-d then apply it to add the smaller details. No sense in creating all that unnecessary geometry. I'll do the windows last because I want to make sure the other details are in the right place first.

I'm going to put some phasers back there don't worry ;)

Some work on the impulse engine area:

The join between the dorsal and saucer is well thought out and detailed

I was just going to say the same thing. You can definitely see where the saucer would cleanly lift off from the interconnecting dorsal. Nice.
Thanks! I'm going to be cutting in all the parts where they intersect instead of clipping them (except for the tiny details of course).

Did some work on the bridge area. Windows are just temporary (boolean), I'm just playing around with the size and where to put them. Next step, cut the bridge module into the saucer. I think it should be detachable for use as a lifeboat if needed.

Here's about where the bridge would be:

I agree.

The top of the Excelsior seems to indicate that the bridge could take the main impulse deck with it.

Here, I could see a deep belly….and an indented trench between the exposed bridge and the lower fuel blister, with Phoenix type engines deploying?

Got the bridge cut in, as well as the light panels.

I won't be putting engines like that on it, though it will have RCS thrusters (which are basically mini Impulse engines in my mind)
