Ohh it's because the pylon is not a rounded box. You can see in the shadow on it that it is trapezoidal in profile. The lighting just makes it look flat...

Liking the proportions on this.

That's my biggest complaint with the JJPrise. Proportions and ratios of the nacelles and engineering hull to the rest of the ship. I find it ironic that all the fan-made ship art in the JJPrise style have much better proportions.

This project is turning out great.

Agreed. Stunning visual effects aside, I didn’t particularly care for for the geometric proportions of the Kelvin Enterprise (and especially the 1701-A).

Agreed. Stunning visual effects aside, I didn’t particularly care for for the geometric proportions of the Kelvin Enterprise (and especially the 1701-A).

For what it's worth, I love the JJ Enterprise as a design, but not as the Connie, reboot or not .
From some perspectives this design has similar proportions. I stuck the nacelles onto the low poly concept model to test it:

I'm hoping I won't have to redo the nacelles and make them a little smaller

I like the thicker nacelles. It's not as sleek when you see it spot on form the rear but they look beefier and with a purpose. The angled shot they look just fine in.

Got a little time to work on the engineering hull. As you can see I'm testing out my sub-d modeling skills. I might go back and redo the nacelles in sub-d (I'll only use it for the main body, that would be a lot of faces)
