Got back from it. The film is pretty solid. There's plenty of action and it's never dull. Just don't read too much into the plot. However I have one really really huge problem with the film: Deadpool.

I am a massive fan of the character Deadpool in the comics, and Ryan Reynold is great as him.....for the whole five minutes he's in the film. When he comes back later, Deadpool is some stupid abomination that bears absolutely no resemblance to the Deadpool I know and love. WHAT THE FUCK?????? Why do they take a beloved character and turn him into something absolutely unrelated to the source? I just have to tell myself that wasn't Deadpool. That was some wierd ass experiment and the real Wade Wilson is alive and well and still mouthing off.

Secondly, this version of Sabertooth is irreconcillable with the version from the first X-men film. I'm just going to have to think of them as seperate characters. There's absolutely no way they can be the same person.

I take it you never saw the action figure line before seeing the film?;)

C+, enoyable enough actioner but plot holes you could drive a truck through and bits that just make zero sense...

I'm planning on betraying Logan, but first I thought I'd make him even more unstoppable."

On 3 Mile island Stryker just lets Logan walk away? No guards even attampting to attack him or anything?

The bit with the adamantiam bullets was just cringe worthy, even down to Stryker explaining exactly what would happen if he used them. WTF? Surely they could have come up with a better explanation for blanking his memory

What's the point of giving Ryan Reynolds literally a 5 minute cameo? Especially when you don't even get him to play Deadpool later on?

Did have its plus points. Few nice set pieces, Jackman is excellent as always, and schreiber is too. Enjoyable but forgetable...probably better than X3 at least!

Yes. Couldn't agree more. Ebert hit it home, too. I gave it a D-, and that's only because I thought Kevin Durand as The Blob was freakin' awesome. Other than that, it was a fanboy-circle-jerk of "How kewl am I?" scenes....

I did. And I joined in on the chorus of hate for that one. Doesn't mean I can't be furious over how he was handled in the film.

I went in totally indifferent, not expecting much, and I enjoyed it enough to give it a B.

- The opening montage taking us through the various wars was really good.

- Ryan Reynolds was great as Wade. I've always liked the concept of deflecting bullets with a sword and it was nice to finally see it in action. I didn't know it wasn't him playing Weapon XI at the end until I checked the IMDb when I got home.

- Too bad they didn't get Tyler Mane back to play Victor. Guess they needed a name actor. Wish we could have seen Brian Cox too, but I guess they needed a younger guy. I heard that both of these actors were willing to return.

- Yes, Lynn Collins was a beauty wasn't she?

- I might have been nice to have Josh Holloway playing Gambit.

- In all these years, I never stopped to think about how Logan was able to get shot in the head in X2 with that adamantium skull of his. Guess now we know that he was shot in the exact same place he was shot in this movie.

- Nice to see Patrick Stewart in a cameo. His face looked odd though. Either too much makeup or too much CGI.

- I stayed until the end of the closing credits thinking there might be a final scene and there was but the thing cut off just as Weapon XI's blade was receding intot the rubble. Was there more?

I gave this a C. There isn't really much of a plot, but the action sequences were fun.

Not sure why they had to mess around with Emma's powers. Admittedly, they don't actually say it's Emma Frost but it's a girl named Emma who can take diamond form. She has a look on her face when Xavier arrives like she's never heard of telepathy.

I'm glad I didn't stay for the post-credits scene. Having different scenes in different prints takes things a bit too far.

While I agree, I figured if you had seen the figure you'd know what you were in for. The way you phased your review, it seemed like you didn't. that was all.

B-.... not bad. But then again I did go in with lowered expectations.

I thought the professor X cameo at the end was too much though - just felt tacked on and not well executed either. Like the SW prequels, it repeats the mistake of trying to connect too many dots. And I really did not need to see so many younger versions of famous mutants.

I did like Victor, and how they needed to fight together at the end. One of the nicer surprises for me, since I though the end battle would just be Wolverine vs Victor.

I give it a C.

I liked it a little worse than X-Men 3 (which I guess means it is my least favourite X-Men movie). Some parts were good, others were dumb. Really suffered from a lack of Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart (and no I'm not counting the cg'd to hell Patrick Stewart in this film). Did that look crap or what?

XMOW is a lot darker than any of the first three films, and it had plenty of little things that drove me crazy, but it certainly didn't suck as badly as some reviewers have claimed. At the very least, XMOW was a good warm-up act for next week's Main Event. I give it a B.

I'll generously award this one a B-. Great cast, very mixed execution. Far too many cliches in this one--do we need our main character turning to the sky and yelling "noooooo!" in another movie ever again? I'd say no.

The opening scene (I'm your father, son) seemed forced and unnecessary. As someone who hasn't read the comics, I didn't understand why it was there in the first place. Why not establish Wolverine and Victor as brothers and just move on? The montage in the beginning was annoying--I wanted to see the movie that incorporated those scenes, not the movie that just uses them in a pre-credits montage.

The bonus scenes I saw were Stryker being caught by military police (which was weird, since he seems alive and well in X-2) and Weapon XI's weapon receding while he/it grabs his/its head and says "shhh."

Very disappointed; I liked Schreiber and Gambit but Wolverine and Stryker were very lackluster. The whole thing felt kind of pointless given that it wasn't the present-day Wolverine (or any other character) discovering the information. An interesting idea to have Wolverine's memory lost through adamantium bullet, but introducing them early on made me think Victor or Stryker would use them earlier. Didn't like Emma varying so much from the comics and Cyclops's role contradicted him meeting Wolverine for the first time in the first film (well, he wasn't wearing glasses at the time, but that's too cute an explanation).

The montage in the beginning was annoying--I wanted to see the movie that incorporated those scenes, not the movie that just uses them in a pre-credits montage.

Yeah, using the Civil War scene in the trailer made me think they'd go more in-depth into the idea of immortality and what that would do to someone.

A solid film. I enjoyed this more than X3.

It wasn't perfect however. But it was a big, fun action movie. I enjoyed many of the cameos.

I never read any of the x-men comics, so I don't give a flying fig what was faithful or not in regards to them. I have the old cartoon and the other films for source material.

Thus, my expectations were for badassery and a hot chick or two. Silverfox was hot. Wolverine, Sabertooth and Deadpool were all pretty badass and funny. Gambit was good, too, but yeah, Josh Holloway should have played him - good fantasy casting there. Sweet action, settings were beautiful. Three-mile Island final battle was frickin' awesome.

There were some plot holes, Emma Frost had quadboobs because her bra was too small for her (distracting but not in a good way) and she wasn't anywhere near as hot as I'd been told she should be (again, Silverfox was gorgeous and looked nothing like her meh "sister" - WTF?) and several cgi shots looked plain awful (waterfall jump, bathroom claw test, Patrick "Claymation" Stewart), but overall, I really enjoyed this movie.

It kicked X3 square in the nutsack, too. Now there really is an X-men trilogy for my DVD collection: Wolverine, X-Men, and X-men United.

Other points...

...the opening credit montage was quite well done and suitably epic.

...I get how Cyclops doesn't recognize Wolverine, though you'd think one of the other rescuees would have mentioned the guy with knifeblades coming out of his hands...but what's up with the others? Toad was there, yes? Yet no reaction in X-men opposing his childhood savior? There were probably others, but I'm not a big X-men buff and the glimpses were quite short.

...along the same lines...how does Sabertooth not say anything about being Wolverine's brother in X1? Unless, based on his completely different appearance...he's another character entirely? Did Victor even go by the code name Sabertooth in XMOW? Are they divorcing the two appearances on purpose?

Anyway, I was gushy and gave it an A. I'll see it again, I'm sure.

Looks like you had a very different post credit scene. We had over here Logan in Japan and it seem you had Wade picking up his head...
I hope it will be included on the DVD.
