X-MEN: FIRST CLASS (Casting, Rumors, Pics till release)

Yep it's getting good early reviewers. I think this has the potential to be the best X-film yet and that's saying a lot due to "X2".

I still kinda wish they'd just bitten the bullet and made this a full-blown reboot, but I'm glad it sounds like they've finally hit another one out of the park after the last two duds. Funny how it happens when the original team comes back. :shifty:

^^ Yeah, one review said it really feels like a prequel now, but if this leads to a new trilogy it will eventually run out of room and just be a reboot into something else. Final runtime supposedly is now 131 minutes, not 140, so that means it is still long and that there may be extra material on an unrated DVD. Apparently it is also PG-13 for brief nudity, so not sure where that could be. And Vaughn might have had to toe the line with the violence too, so maybe there is edgier material eventually.

MFO has a bunch of photo call pictures and behind the scenes B roll stuff, too. I'm starting to not keep up anymore. I posted a bunch of review links a few pages back, but now I am actually kind of calm, knowing now it is really just a matter of when I can go to the theater. Who knew?

Thursday there is supposed to be some sort of cast thing on The Today Show. Wonder what they have to say?

If this is successful and Fox green lights a sequel it's possible we could see the formation of the original X-Men (minus Beast and Angel of course) in the final film. I understand the cries of rebooting, but for now this will do as will "The Wolverine" whenever it jumps into production finally.

I am ready to watch this movie now. A week or so away from being released! Exciting times indeed.

And Iceman too. Unless they show him as a zygote, haha. I guess also depends what timeframe they choose. If they jump ahead into the mid to late 70s and try to line up with the movie continuity, maybe the new additions will be Scott, Jean, and possibly Storm.

Well they already used Bobby so he wouldn't be an original member. I'm guessing in this continuity the original team would be Scott, Jean, Ororo, Beast (You could still have Hank around as the senior member of the team), toss in a couple of others.

If it does there seems little reason to reboot. In 5 years they could crank out 2 more prequel movies and in theory even 2 more Wolverine movies.

They've been sitting on ideas for an X-Men 4 to follow up Last Stand and they could do just that. No telling what other mutants we might see in 4 more X-Men movies. Use any of those in an X-4. Recasting some of the other roles like Storm or Scott wouldn't be an issue.

If they are good I'm in favor of the "keep it going" mentality. Soft update, sure. All new origin stories, not yet. This universe is still working good so far it seems.

I should have been more clear but i was adding to your list of guys who shouldn't be included as original members like Warren and technically Hank because he's already in this one.

And yeah there are plenty of X-universe stories to explore.

If they do jump ahead, I'm sure by now Xaviers school would have more students attending and we could easily see a bunch of cameos from all kinds of various mutants. Just like they did in the trilogy. Past and present, guys like Cypher, Morph, Dazzler, Chamber, Armor, etc. I guess that's a foregone conclusion though. But adding 3 or 4 additional
characters to the forefront (depending on if anything happens to members of the current roster) would be the next logical step.

Otherwise most of these look to be the same flashy stuff. Yeah, I'm ready to see it already! Now there are articles with Vaughn talking sequel already, geez! Honestly, I can't believe they waited until a week before to seriously promote this film.

I mean, you know you are craving this movie too much when the T in my address bar no longer directs me just to the Trek BBs or even the SFF subset, but THIS particular thread! When will it be time to post the Grading and Discussion thread? We could still very well reach 150 pages before then!
