X-MEN: FIRST CLASS (Casting, Rumors, Pics till release)

^^^^^
Hadn't read anything about it being a 'period' piece but that makes sense if its to be seen as a prequel(trilogy?).
Remind me(us) again when X-Men(2000) takes place? Is it the year 2000? Then how far back are we talking? Brick phones in the 80's? Clinton as President? How much are we going to hold them to a 'dated' look for the film.

X-Men and X-Men: The Last Stand read: "The not too distant future", so the exact timeline was always a little murky.

I also posted a production listing a while back in this thread that stipulated a "period" piece for the film and listed the 60's as a timetable.

Here's the link again.

Exact verbiage:

All locations are 1960's in date and look/feel:

Bariloche (Argentina): Cafe's & Bars (interiors and exteriors)
Known as little Switzerland

Miami: Harbour for yacht, Art Deco Cafe/Restaurant overlooking the water/harbour

Please note that this has to be a 60's look and feel.

I think that Alex Summers is only like two or three years older than Scott...maybe a little older. I think people are frustrated because there aren't any X-Men in this film. It's primarily an origin story involving the origin of Xavier and Magneto. There are X-Men characters in this film yes, but not the actual 'first class' which I assume they will touch on in later films.

the HD tv in the bar in Canada was a bit battered and dinged, indicating it was a few years old, so X1 must take place in at least 2014 or later...

Actually, Scott is supposed to be older than Alex.

Scott is the older brother in the standard continuity, but in the Ultimate universe, Alex is older, for some reason. So they could go either way with Alex in the movies, should he ever appear.

So unless Alex doesn't even appear until towards the end of the movie, we going to assume he's got like 15+ years on Scott?

I think we have to. I'm assuming that the Summer's brothers will be getting an altered origin rather than their comic origin.

With that kind of age difference, they might as well make Alex Scott's father.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

Then there will certainly be an uproar of that was the case. Although would be better than explaining the actual where abouts of Papa Summers. "Where's your dad at?" "Oh he's out touring with some cosmically psychedelic band called The Star Jammers"

Since the Phoenix's origin was altered I can safely assume that there will be no Starjammers or Emperor D'Ken or Gabriel Summers in the film. I wonder what they come up with and yeah Lucas Till is 20 years old but I'm assuming that he'll be playing a teenage Alex Summers.

If he's playing a teenaged Alex Summers, but it's a period piece set in the 60s, then Alex has several decades on Scott. Which is why I supposed they could make him Scott's father rather than his incredibly older brother.

He could be an incredibly older brother if the Summers father pulled an Anthony Quinn or Tony Randall in his old age and knocked up a really young chick. ;)

It's interesting that JacksonArcher posted that the film is supposed to take place in the 40's, 50's, and 60's. If Alex is in the film then I assume that we will see him when Erik and Charles start to begin recruiting students if they even do that in the film before things to go hell between them.

According to this article Alice Eve left because she didn't like the script lol....

Well they already cast Havok so Alex will be in the movie in some capacity

They join previously announced "First Class" mutants: James McAvoy (Xavier), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Caleb Landry Jones (Banshee), Lucas Till (Havoc)
