X-MEN: FIRST CLASS (Casting, Rumors, Pics till release)

Don't expect to see any casting announcements for Scott, Jean and Storm.
WHOA what the hell?? Is Cyclops getting the shaft again??? Does Singer have a personal hatred for Cyclops or something? This is ridiculous! Cyclops is the first of the first students of Xavier!

Have you guys seen this?
January Jones has been signed to play the role of Emma Frost, the gorgeous mutant with telepathic powers.
Eh, she's a better Sue Storm type. Christina Hendricks with a blonde wig would be more the Emma Frost type. But it would be funny if Jon Hamm gets cast as Superman. Marvel-DC crossover battle royale! :rommie: Who gets the kids and the house?

This movie is really shaping up to be a total hodgepodge. :wtf: There are so many characters, it's giving me a headache. Maybe I should stick with only the Marvel-run Marvel character movies.
Zoe Kravitz as Angel? Nope, not buying it.

Wasn't Alice Eve signed on to play Emma Frost earlier?

If Kevin Bacon is playing Sebastian Shaw, then I'm guessing this is Xavier and co vs the Hellfire Club. It'll be the justification for why Magneto and the Brotherhood were the only mutant villains of the original movies: All the other mutant villains were dealt with years earlier.

If there are no actual X-Men in this film then I'm even more convinced that this is a trilogy. January Jones. What the hell? I'm with Anwar what the hell happened with Alice Eve? I remember Jones as the stripper at Jim's bachelor party in "American Wedding".

Jones wasn't the stripper. She was -- I don't know who she played or what side of the family she was on exactly -- but she was Stifler's love interest.

Actually Cyclops is getting his own movie. Hugh Jackman is going to star in it. :p

Singer doesn't really seem to like any of the X-Men characters aside from Xavier, Magneto and Wolverine.

Kind of funny seeing how in the comics it's the total opposite: Cyclops overthrew Xavier, took over the X-Men, did what neither Xavier nor Magento could do and unite the Mutant people all together, put Wolverine in his place, and Magneto even bowed down to Cyclops and admit he was the better leader of mutantdom.

Funny thing about Emma is that it works either way if she's played by Alice or January: Emma was originally an American woman, so January fits. But Grant Morrison thought she was British so he made her British, so Alice fits as well!

Well Emma's origin has kind of been retconned recently but that's neither here nor there. The film is actually about Xavier and Magneto. As we have discussed Singer's treatment was written into a script by Jamie Moss I believe before Matthew Vaughn was hired as direct when it was in dispute still if Singer would return or not. Obviously the story has kind of expanded to feature all of these other mutants as well.

@Aragorn...just to clarify Jones played Michelle's sister Candice ;)

I take it people don't really read thru the thread as JacksonArcher has already divulged this info a while back.

It's weird as I thought they already casted Moira and Emma, but apparently not.

And will we be calling her Warrena Worthington III, pretty drastic change

Uh... when they announced a black woman would be playing 'Angel', I kind of figured they were talking about Angel Salvadore. I mean, I may be wrong, but it seems like a better assumption all things considered. Granted she's not a high-profile character, but they might simply be looking to make the team less of a white-male thing (or perhaps they just want some cannon fodder characters).

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

As for people getting outraged at the lack of presence for Scott, Jean and Storm, the film is set primarily in the 40's, 50's, and 60's. In fact the film ends around 1963. So at this stage Scott, Jean and Storm are probably not born yet. From what I hear, they are saving them for sequels.

The film is primarily about Xavier, Magneto and Sebastian Shaw (the villain of the film). It's really about Xavier and Magneto's relationship. The formation of the X-Men doesn't really even come into play until the very end of the story.

I'm not sure why people are getting upset at the cast. I think we only have like 5 or 7 confirmed cast members. This is an ensemble film, so of course it's going to have a large cast. The great thing about the X-Men universe is that you can have a variety of different mutant characters because the world is so expansive. For those fearing this will turn into another X-Men Origins: Wolverine, rest assure it won't. I've been told the film keeps a firm central focus on the principals (Xavier, Magneto, Shaw, Frost, etc) with other supporting roles spliced in throughout.

Gee, how much older is Alex Summers to Scott?

This whole movie just sounds stupid. I know Mathew Vaughan is directing it, so I have some hopes to salvage a diamond out of the turd (err i mean coal)....... but it's kind of disheartening what a massive shit FOX took on the franchise with X3.

I get that, ok, Singer couldn't do it. That's no reason to make such a garbage script that kills off all the principles.

X-Men could have gone on for two or three more sequels. Now they're stuck having to do some weird prequel reboot. Ugh.

Watch this will be the greatest X-Men film ever! Or at least a better start to a new trilogy.

Most people can agree X1 was decent, but X2 brought it to another level. X3 took what X2 built and destroyed and defacated all over it. X4 could still be salvageable, but so far I'm still liking this, despite the absence of certain characters, but it's still early.

I think this could be very good. The fact that Singer & Vaughn are behind it instills me with a lot of confidence. Just the fact that it'll be a period piece X-Men movie is all kinds of cool to me. I'm really looking forward to this.
