X-MEN: FIRST CLASS (Casting, Rumors, Pics till release)

I have a feeling a portion of the film will take place during the 60's, which is when we will see the beginnings of Xavier and Erik's friendship. I can see this film evolving from the 60's to the 70's and 80's, which is very cool to me. I've always been a huge fan of the X-Men during the 70's, which I believe was the timeframe of The Dark Phoenix Saga, and I've always wanted to see the X-Men during those periods.

I surprising agree with JacksonArcher on the time frame of the movie and yes the Dark Phoenix Saga along the with the Phoenix Saga took place in the 70's during Bryne and Claremont's famous run when you know Claremont was actually sane while writing X-Men.

Aww man I was looking forward to seeing the yellow and blue uniforms with Iceman throwing snowballs.

"Rosamund Pike, the British actress who appeared most recently in Surrogates may be playing Emma Frost, aka the White Queen in next summer's X-Men: First Class, according to a story at Forces of Geek.

According to the site, Pike has been spotted in the offices of X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn's casting director and also seen carrying Emma Frost comic books.

Casting rumors for the film are pouring in with, just earlier today, Michael Fassbender rumored to be in the running for the part of Magneto. With shooting set to begin in just a few months, it shouldn't be long before Fox offers official confirmation."

Hmm, I was thinking Emma was gonna be a lot younger. Maybe this movie wont be canon to X-men Origins: Wolverine after all. Or maybe she's up for Moira McTaggart.

the Emma in XMO:W may not be Emma Frost. she's just called 'Emma' and got diamond powers...

look at how they buggered about with characters in X3...

I like how so far it's been fairly an international flavor for casting rumors/announcements. UK so far. Watch Vinny Jones will be asked to reprise his role for Juggernaut. Fassbender would be cool for Mag. Still hoping there will be a slot for Tom Hardy. Maybe Mr. Sinister.

Fassbender would be an excellent Magneto. Hope he takes this rather than the Spidey gig. Presumably the Spidey villain will be a one-shot role whereas Magento will probably allow him to do sequels. So I suppose - in addition to the script quality - whether or not he wants to commit to a franchise is likely to be a factor in which movie he opts for.

Rosamund Pike for Emma Frost (if it is Frost)? Pretty good choice. She certainly showed that she can do icy villainesses in Die Another Day.

I think Rosamund Pike for Emma Frost (it's clear that despite the alteration to the character's back story in Wolverine that she was meant to be Emma) is an excellent choice. She essentially played that type of character in "Die Another Day"

It's possible that this movie could be ignoring X-Men Origins Wolverine although everything that i've read about it has stated that it still takes place within the movie franchise established. It could be though that Singer's story establishes his own origins for the character which again as I brought up a few threads ago it will be interesting to see what Fox does with Wolverine 2 which appears to still be green lit and ready for production next year.

Pike's been a favourite of mine for years, but since Die Another Day she hasn't gotten a big attention-grabbing role; she'd be great as Emma.

Even if the movie is in the same general continuity as X-Men Origins: Wolverine, it's possible that that was still somehow a different Emma. (Kinda like how I kinda prefer to think of Liev Schreiber's Victor Creed and Tyler Mane's Saber Tooth as different characters in the movie universe. After all, neither is ever referred to with the other's name on screen.)

This could be good news for the fans. Or, it could just be great news for the casting director! Giggidy-giggidy!:p

I'm still kinda weirded out by James McAvoy as young Xavier. For years, I've been thinking he would be perfect as young Magneto. I still think that, particularly since I think he bears a very strong resemblance to Ian McKellen. Put me in the camp that wants to see Tom Hardy as young Xavier. (Although, I'm not sure Hardy would do it. I'm not sure anyone wants to follow in Patrick Stewart's footsteps quite that literally.;))

Still, if we see Xavier & Magneto's falling out in this movie with these young actors, it will make it kinda hard to reconcile with the Stewart & McKellen versions still being pals in the prologue of X-Men: The Last Stand. Oh, what a tangled continuity web we weave! Still, I prefer this over a reboot. People reboot things too damn much nowadays. Plus, I don't really see them officially rebooting things until after they're absolutely positive that they can't convince Hugh Jackman to play Wolverine any more.

But then, this is already a franchise rife with recasting, like the non-Aaron Stanford version of Pyro and the non-Ellen Page version of Kitty in the original X-Men. And the non-Kelsey Grammer version of Hank McCoy in X2, who doesn't even seem to be a mutant at all. Then there was the little girl who could walk through walls in X2. She may or may not have been named Kitty. She certainly wasn't played by either of the other Kitty actresses and she looked considerably younger than either of them.

I personally think a reboot would do wonders. Start fresh. X3 became such a huge clusterfuck for the franchise. A nice restart of a new franchise, starting in a different point in time of the X-Men, at the beginning could be just what the doctor ordered. Probably won't happen. But I could dream.

Actually I think "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" was more of a cluster fuck for the franchise than "X-Men: The Last Stand" is and that is saying a lot since I despise the later. Just so many things wrong in X-Men Origins. I haven't seen either of them since I saw them and was disappointed by both in the theaters.
