X-MEN: FIRST CLASS (Casting, Rumors, Pics till release)

hmm Aaron Johnson eh? I can get onboard with that. Isn't he shagging his 40+ year old manager at the tender age of 19? And actually knocked her up too? I really hope the whole Taylor Lautner for Hank McCoy fiasco can be put to rest. He does not exude being a scientist, whatsoever.

New actors have joined the cast of Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class. They are Nicholas Hoult (who played Nicolas Cage's son in The Weather Man) who will play Beast and actor Caleb Landry Jones who will play Banshee.

They join James McAvoy (Atonement), who is set to play Charles Xavier, and two more confirmed actors: Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds), who is indeed playing Erik Lensher/Magneto and Alice Eve (She's Out of My League) who is playing Emma Frost.

I've never heard of Jones before, but Hoult is a pretty good young actor. He has held his own against the likes of the aforementioned Nic Cage, Colin Firth and Gabriel Bryne. Good choice if you ask me.

Even I have to wonder if this is going to be too cameo heavy...

If they're going for a class--that is, an ensemble movie--then I don't think a large number of characters hurts the story any. Not cameos but supporting characters. Seeing as how X-Men are supposed to be a team franchise, I like feeling as though it will actually be a sizeable team.

If, on the other hand, it's a movie like Wolverine, where a protagonist keeps meeting others, then it becomes excessive. Particularly Wolverine's pattern of meeting a character briefly, having it vanish, and then appear again briefly.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

Kevin Bacon In Talks For 'X-Men: First Class' Baddie

I'm told that Kevin Bacon has the offer and is negotiating to play the villain role in X-Men: First Class. Not sure of his character, and they have to make his deal, but Bacon would line up nicely alongside James McAvoy (Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Alice Eve (Emma Frost), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Caleb Landry Jones (Banshee), and Lucas Till (Havoc). Director Matthew Vaughn is casting up a storm as the picture nears the start line.

Now who could Bacon possibly be?

Bollivar Trask, although Sinister or Sebastian Shaw would be awesome, although I figured they would cast an actor for that character to be more European, ironically.

Hell maybe it's an X-Men/Hollow Man crossover!

Kevin Bacon would make a great Mr. Sinister. I'm starting to become worried about this film's casting. I'm guessing the core original roster of X-Men is going to be Cyclops, Beast, Jean Grey (yet to be cast), Emma Frost?, Banshee, and Havok? This is reminding me of "X-Men: The Last Stand" and "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" with how many roles are being cast right now. Still excited for this film but am becoming slightly concerned. It does seem like it will be at the very least interesting, kind of a mesh between the 616 and Ultimate universe origin maybe?

I just worry in large ensemble movies like this that one person will get short end of the stick

Xavier- Do you agree that we should go after Magneto

Cyclops- We need to form a strategy

Havok- yeah

The one thing we shouldn't have to worry about is the script quality as Goldman and Vaughn did a hell of a job on "Kick-Ass". I forgot about Storm as well. I'm surprised that the actual core team of X-Men haven't really been announced yet.

Yeah they start production next month. Maybe they're saving those announcements for ComicCon, which I hope they will have a panel for because I am soooo there this year! 2 more weeks!

Maybe Kevin Bacon will be a younger Senator Kelly
