No, he didn't "charge unknowingly into battle". He let the lower powered pawns go first in order to see what he was up against. Once he did, then he charged into battle.

He arrived on the battlefield with no intel. Sent in his pawns, sacrificing them in order to learn.

Rather than, you know, gathering intel BEFORE arriving on the battle field, NOT having to sacrifice his pawns and having a larger force.

Dumb.

They didn't have much time, and didn't have much in the way of gathering intel since they lost Mystique.

You know one way they could've had a great advantage. Drop. The. Bridge.

I'm unclear on why they needed an army at all (not to mention the completely unanswered question of Mags' large and motley crowd got from the East Coast to Marin County). If Jean/Phoenix was such a hugely and immensely powerful being, couldn't she have taken the whole island out herself, or at least dropped the kid's ceiling on him, from Pier 39?

Humility aside, there are more than eight reasons that X3 stinks.

Poor Origins though. The only X-Men film completely retconned away.

Not completely... he still has the bone claws!

Yet I did notice at the end of the credits it listed all six previous movies (inc Origins) for using clips from.

That's interesting. I wonder if they used something that was cut from the film or if it's the kind of thing you have to pause the DVD to even notice.

I noticed at least one shot from Origins. Logan's claw being stomped on by Victor.

A fairly old comment to drag up, but I just rewatched it again on Blu-ray. At the cinema I thought those shots of Wolverine undergoing the Weapon-X procedure were from X2, but inspecting them they are from Origins. So not just the 'bone stomping' scene used.

I suppose Origins is still kinda ignored a bit plot-wise, but nice to see it wasn't ignored as much as I first thought.

^ Oh, yeah. For all its strengths, AoU ended with the MCU's 11th-straight demolition derby finale in 11 movies, whereas DofP ended with a confrontation of characters and personalities.

AOU had plenty of character and personality clashing, it just wasn't resolved then and there because that's what the rest of Phase 3 is about.

DOFP ended with Xavier being a moron and becoming an accessory to terrorism. After a minor demolition derby.
