X-Men: Apocalypse announced for May 2016

That was fun, but there is one big issue if you want to think of it actually taking place in the movie universe...

Well its obviously a homage to the tv series "In Search of". Which Leonard Nimoy hosted and narrated. With Nimoy no longer with us, they got another Star Trek actor with a distinct voice.

New trailer out tomorrow

Hmm, do we really need one? Not a really a fan of too many trailers, I just prefer a Teaser trailer, a normal trailer, and then that's it. You've sold the movie to me by then, you don't need to bombard me with it, especially so that by the time the movie comes out it feels like you've already seen it.
But more to the point I know I won't be able to resist watching it when I know I'd rather not and therefore have more surprises when I sit down to watch the actual movie (rather that it been a checklist of like "that was in the trailer, so was that, that bit too, oh that was in the trailers, etc")

but, But, BUT NOTHING HURTS THE BLOB!!!

Seems every fan post I see on Twitter seems to think so. I thought we have seen a decent amount of footage. But a lot of fans seem skeptical about this. Why, I am not sure. Considering how great Days of Future Past was. I do not see any harm in one more final trailer which gives a better sense of the actual plot. "Apocalypse tries to destroy the world" That is all we really know, but we knew that when he was announced for the villain.

Joblo.com does a poll every now and then about what release you're looking forward to the most. For the summer season, all the comic book movies are part of that poll aswell. Captain America is right now at 854 votes, Suicide Squad at 407, Jason Bourne is at 75, and the new X-Men at 74....

Ofcourse a poll like this isn't a be all and end all or anything, but I do find it curious that more people are looking forward to Suicide Squad than the new X-Men.

Perhaps Deadpool sucked up all the X-Men votes for this year. The fires for Apocalypse have been cold for awhile now.

Oh yeah, I stopped caring for this movie a while ago. At first, I thought the character of Apocalypse might be cool, and it would make an interesting story. But sofar, it's all 'end of the world kill the baddie' stuff we've seen. I'm simply not bothered.

I'm excited for the movie. Apocalypse is my favorite X-Villain and I'm looking forward to an X-Movie going to such an epic scale with the fate of the world in the balance.

A little tease, but hopefully there is more later today.

Haha well I don't really wanna watch it, but just the still picture of that above video pretty much gives too much away already!!
I mean you could kinda guess he'd be in at as at least a cameo, but I'd rather they actually suprised us (like in First Class) rather than outright spoiling it. Ah fuck trailers from now on, they ruin everything.
Still bitter about the Amazing Spider-Man 2 one, just completely gave away the last shot of the frickin movie

"Hey Man Nice Shot" is used in a lot of trailers, but it works well here.

They acknowledge that Magneto is Quiksilver's father, and there might even be a little bit of a hint that Mystique is Nightcrawler's mom (along with Azazel), but that could just be wishful thinking on my part. Nightcrawler's fascination ("You're her!") could just be because she's well known in mutant circles, and the comics connection between them doesn't exist.

In the least surprising twist ever, Wolverine is in it.

Looks like Sydney also bites the dust (literally) in this one.

We see more of the PBY Catalina-like VTOL jet, which is cool.

That was decent. Too Jennifer Lawrence heavy (I really hope she's not replacing Wolverine as the "main" character of this franchise :sigh: ) but besides that it looks decent. I'm more excited for Civil War and Doctor Strange, but its probably 3rd on the list.

Outside of Jackman's role (which has always been reported to be a brief cameo), Lawrence is easily the biggest and most marketable star of the entire cast.

Not as excited about this as I was for DOFP. I will watch it but keeping expectations low. Civil War i'm excited for also, it's the more coherent of the two.

So? The X-Men franchise is all about big casts, there is no reason to have a main character of the entire franchise. Especially not when its a b-list character being weirdly shoved into a spotlight because the actress did some popular YA movies. At least Wolverine was a popular character, and Hugh Jackman was just great in general. Lawrence is an ok actor playing a b-lit character.

Comparing it to the MCU, even Robert Downey jr/Tony Stark, probably the most popular of the "main" Marvel actors/characters, doesn't get shoved in front of everyone else like Lawrence was in that trailer. The MCU manages to get a good balance, and the FOX X-Men movies kind of did that in First Class, so its annoying to see they haven't learned anything and are just shoving Lawrence to replace Jackman. The difference being, though, that eventually people will forget about Hunger Games just like they've forgotten about stuff like Twilight (that's probably why she seems to have changed her mind about this being her last X-Men movie :shifty:) and then Lawrence will probably be shoved to the top of the X-Men. Jackman stayed on top by generally being awesome, Lawrence is only there because of her name, which isn't that big to begin with and won't stay that way.

Its just an annoyance. I don't even dislike her, its mostly just eye rolling how she's getting so much focus. She'll fade faster then Jackman, and FOX will probably focus on a new character. Meanwhile, Marvel will keep having a huge amount of popular characters and doing better then FOX and their ____ & The X-Men franchise. A franchise I like, just to be clear, but could be better.
