X-Men: Apocalypse announced for May 2016

I really don't see anything to indicate that they've not been brainwashed either.

I don't know if it's been pointed out before, but Magneto and Storm as Horsemen is reminiscent of X-Men: Evolution. Angel of course is probably the most famous Horseman from the comics. So Psylocke's the only new one I think - and the one I was most on the fence about. But - I'm definitely sold!

Given that the version of Psylocke being used started out in the comics as having been brainwashed by the Mandarin, I think this creative choice works just fine.

I thought the Storm segment was showing Blue Man (who I'm done calling "Apocalypse") basically recruiting Storm just by talking to her. Hopefully that won't be the case, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's what happens.

How do we know that's not one of his powers? Powers of persuasion (which works well with the idea of selling him as someone that convinces others he's a god)

i think Sunfire also joined Apocalypse willingly. mostly to get his legs back.

I really liked the new trailer, particularly the word-for-word reprise of Charles and Erik's conversation about people attacking the X-mansion from X-2, as it demonstrates that, for all the timeline shenanigans that occurred with DoFP, the earlier installments in the franchise do still matter and are still linked to what's happening post-DoFP, which is in line with Singer having referred to Apocalypse as being the culmination of two trilogies.

I had the same thought. I was wondering if the brainwashing involved Apocalypse's powers. I think I remember reading something about him controling mutants, and I've been wondering if he is going to be using his powers to do it.

He does brainwash his Horsemen in the comics, but they do usually go to him willingly in the first place.

As far as I know, every one of the people who join Apocalypse as his "horsemen" in this movie do so willingly without any mind persuasion involved.

Honestly......

I can be quite forgiving of comicbook movies, seeing them as simple entertainment mostly, while still giving us memorable characters we can really care about.

This trailer has still not convinced me of X-Men: Apocolypse. Right now, if I have some time during a weekend, I might go and see it. But if I miss it in cinema's...... meh.

*Cue X-men Evolution theme song*

So I guess Angel is influenced by Billy Idol?

We'll probably never see those costumes again after the movie ends. This is likely because of Singer's colorful costumes phobia. It's probably going to be a gut punch like "Avengers...As..."

Jennifer Lawrence is suddenly down for more X-Men movies. I'm sure they'd have to give her a big raise.

Ugh. We're just at the point where Hugh Jackman's Wolverine isn't the center of the X-Men Universe anymore, and I don't want Jennifer Lawrence to take his role. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy Jackman's Wolverine, but he was a bit too much of a focus at times. Mystique is a decent character, but I'm already tired of her becoming a focus character because her actress got more popular. I'd honestly prefer not to see her after Apocalypse, or at least put her more in the background and give more time to the young X-Men.

Same. Although with Jackman, I understand why he became the focus. They lost the actor for Cyclops and needed a leading man. Mystique/JLaw has overstayed her welcome in the spotlight, and I think they've run out of things to make her relevant to every movie plot they do.

I want to Pixie, Boom Boom, Armor, X-Men Scarlet Witch, Dazzler and or Jean to take the lead in something!
She doesn't have so much Mystique anymore har har har.
AHAHAHAHA! Brilliant.

Eh? Jackman's Wolverine was the focus from word 1 of the original X-Men trilogy. My only real complaint about them (Well, X1 and 2) is that Cyclops was reduced to "that jerk standing in Logan's way with Jean."

They can all (well except Jean naturally) wait for Kitty Pryde, Storm, Jubilee, Dani Moonstar, and Rachel Summers (Grey?). ;)

That's the thing though. Since coming back to X-Men, Singer has said his original plan was to have the first 2 movies be about Wolverine, but have X3 be about Scott. Well, Singer left X3 pre-production to go do Superman Returns and James Marsden (Cyclops' actor) went with him. Hence the cobbled together Phoenix story we got out of X3, with Logan being in Scott's place for Jean's lover and killer.
