X-Men: Apocalypse announced for May 2016

See, now the Apocalypse in that poster looks very little like the one in the trailer. The poster version looks good.

I hope the effects in the final film look a lot better than those in the trailer.

Boy am I glad marvel does not get to make x-men. the trailer was epic very dark, serious and no doubt will have story and depth and not just be about silly explosion.

Im sure you are glad your man Wolverine and Cable are able to smoke since Fox allows smoking and Marvel has banned smoking.

Logan and Cable haven't smoked in the comics for years.

And apparently MCU's featuring alcohol and sex somehow doesn't mean anything because they don't show smoking.

Im sure the OP must be in his teens and going through his edgy phase as he thinks smoking is cool.

There's been an insane barrage of set visit articles/interviews in the last day or so, with quite a lot of tidbits about the film:

Yahoo Movies
Digital Spy
IGN
Collider
JoBlo.com
Superhero Hype
Slashfilm

There's a description of a sequence in the Slashfilm piece that sounds hilarious:
Are we going to see Jean and Scott as still discovering their powers?

Oh yeah, they’re a mess. We came up with a scene the other day that was really funny, I don’t know if I should give it away, but I was just on the set. They’re in a battle scene and Scott keeps taking off his glasses but he can’t see what he’s trying to hit because he doesn’t have a visor, he doesn’t have any technology. So finally I was like “Okay, okay, wait, wait.” So Jean just grabs the back of his head and starts moving him around. She’s trying to hit the enemy, I don’t want to say who the enemy is, she’s just trying to use them as target practice. So suddenly we did that and we started playing with that and having fun with it and then we were like “Oh shit, we have to service that and film the other side of it. It’s a scene now! We’re running out of time!”

They’re kids! They don’t know what to do! She’s trying to figure out her psychic powers, which are much more powerful than she realizes. There’s some heartbreak, beautiful and climactic, again I don’t want to give anything away. But that was one beat that on the day I’m watching him do this and I’m like “You can’t see shit, you don’t even know what you’re hitting,” so I said “Grab his head, use them for target practice.” It’s so cute and it brings them together. There are many scenes that bring them together but that’s one that was like the video game version. You get Sophie Turner grabbing Tye Sheridan and using him as a point and shoot.

So we've had a lot of advertising and hype for Daredevil (featuring Punisher and Elektra), Batman v Superman (featuring Wonder Woman), and now Captain America Civil War (featuring everyone except Hulk and Thor), we should take the time to remind everyone that the X-Men also have a movie after this... Haha!

I really haven't seen much for Apocalypse yet. I'm really looking forward to it though.

I realize actors playing different roles is what they do but I still can't see anything but "Sansa Stark" whenever I see Sophie Turner in this movie.

You know, while I like the character of Mystique and have no real problems with how she has developed, that X-Men focused poster poster makes me wonder what it would be like if we lived in a world where Jennifer Lawrence didn't do Hunger Games. I'd be very curious to see if Mystique would be a character of note in this movie (or the last one, for that matter) if her actress hadn't gotten decently big a year or so after First Class. I have the feeling she wouldn't be front and center in that poster, if nothing else.

I feel the same way. Mystique's whole character (which the first X-Men trilogy and FC handled better) is that she hates using her powers to look normal, and that she should be her blue self the entire time. Ever since JLaw blew up with the Hunger Games and won an Oscar the same year, TPTB have been very forward about pushing JLaw into all the media and cutting her scenes in blue down to as few as possible. I was ok with the amount of focus Mystique got in DOFP, because in the comics it is Mystique's assassination of several people that triggers the sentinel program to hunt down, incarcerate and ultimately exterminate the mutant race. With Apocalypse it's like "look it's Jennifer Lawrence from the Hunger Games and Oscar nominated films!"

Whatever happened to "mutant and proud"?

Wasn't there a good deal of blue Mystique in DOFP?

^ Maybe she is blue a lot in it, could be just for the posters and trailer clips they'll use human J-Law to "show her off"

My only issue with this movie is with the 80s setting, and that all the pre-buzz from the film makers was like "hey this ones in the 80s, 80s colours and fashion and hair etc." Which to be fair there is a bit of in that trailer. But.... I wish that that could have extended to the X-uniforms. Seems like this would be the perfect opportunity to do some of the classic looks for say Cylcops blue & yellow etc. Instead it just looks like they're all in pretty bland black jump suits, not even as cool as the ones in the original X-Trilogy (with the big X on the chest)
It's cool seeing the gang all striking a pose in that poster, but what they're wearing I find very meh

It would definitely be cool if the X-Men movies would take a hint from the Marvel mvoies and at least use a variation of comic book costumes instead of basically being ashamed of the colorful stuff (for the most part), but at this point I'm used to it. Its disappointing, but it doesn't really bother me anymore.

I despise the '80s. For that reason alone, I am not as enthusiastic about X-Men: Apocalypse as I was about FC or DOFP.

Heck, when the DOFP trailers first came out, I was miffed that they weren't keeping the '60s setting from FC. But the movie surpassed my expectations by far, with the real-world events and more jaded attitude of that time period providing an excellent backdrop to the story, in contrast to the jet-age Kennedy-era optimism of FC. Now I feel like watching DOFP again.

I hope X:A turns out as good.

Her time in blue has been reduced due to Lawrence hating the makeup process (and they changed it to a bodysuit for Days of Future Past, which looked terrible). She and Fassbender are both getting paid peanuts for these movies so Singer & Co. have tried to be as accommodating as possible.
