X-Files EE: Is it worth it? POSSIBLE SPOILERS

Are you counting all the episodes Spotnitz co-wrote with Carter in that formula (most of the mytharc over the years)?

I liked the two episodes Spotnitz wrote and directed.

well, most of their episodes dealt with the mytharc and that became so plodding at the end that I gave up. which two eps? care to jog my memory? was it Alone? I can't remember the other one.

"Daemonicus," IIRC, was the other one Spotnitz directed. I enjoyed the sense of visual style he brought to the series.

I actually thought they gave the movie a lot of advertising, actually. I saw many a commercial for it.

I just got my dvd today...the movie plays well to the tv screen as opposed to the theatre...the lighting seemed better somehow. I really enjoyed it...the few extra scenes were a nice add too.

I didn't like how they put all those pics up over the end credits though...they were good end credits! I know its good to recognize the behind-the-scenes crew...but still!

It was nice to be able to zoom to the little boat scene

Well I finally got to see the theater version on DVD and I liked it, it's certainly an X-File case I don't see the the confusion on that point and there was great acting in it Gillian Anderson's scene with Billy Connolly wher she confronts him about why he told her not to give up. Amanda Peet was something of a replacement for Scully in the field until she died which was a but of a shock since I didn't see it coming until it happened. And I liked the link between the priest and his former victim was the reason for his connection to the murders. It was a tightly written and filmed thriller and I liked the music as well.

I'm looking forward to seeing the unrated version and hearing the commentary, I also saw the gag reel which was hilarious.

One of the greatest things about this movie is that it is a character piece and not an action piece. Too many movies now are about action and explosions and cutting edge special effects. But it is the story, the engaging of characters both villains and heroes, that is lacking in many of these stories.

I simply love the ethical and moral questions pertaining to this story.

Where did you get the theatre version on DVD from? Its not available in the UK. Did it have the end credits without the pictures all over it?

The two disc special edition of the movie has both versions on the first disc, I imagine it's like a branching version of the movies with the deleted scenes fitted in at the proper cues. And yes it has the end credits with the pictures underneath ending with Scully and Mulder in the row boat.

Oh, well it's not on the English 2 disc version :(

I'm in the states in 4 weeks though, so i'll pick it up, thanks. :)

I've got the UK version too (the 3-disc version) and on the back it says that both the theatrical release and the director's cut are included, but I can't seem to get to the theatrical version. Anyone any idea how to access that one? Or do they just lie on the dvd casing?

Well I coicendentally just watched this today (the extended version) and I have to say.....snoorrre, lol. It was much what I expected, a 2 hour regular TV episode.

Comments:

1) Death of Amanda Peet's character was pointless except to add 10 seconds worth of melodrama

2) The gag reel was by far, the most entertaining portion of the episode.
