X-Files EE: Is it worth it? POSSIBLE SPOILERS

Hope it does well on dvd, because a third movie about 2012 Alien apocalypse would be so cool and a great ending to the movies

I actually thought this wasn't out on DVD until next week, so I'd agree that there's definitely been no significant advertising...

^ I've seen one commercial for it. I rented it a few minutes ago (my local BB had 21 copies of it still available at 3:30 today). Haven't watched it yet.

20th century fox should take all the blame for the box office to the film.....they hardly advertised it and the trailers were released really late and the time they released it should have been around now.

^ I wouldn't necessarily say there was no advertising. There was advertising, but on more niche channels. Sci-Fi, Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, Spike-TV, USA, TBS.

I guess that is why I did not see much. The only time I would see tv ads for the movie was during repeats of The Simpsons

The only way four added minutes could change my opinion of the movie is if it's four solid minutes of John Doggett.

I fear there's not much hope for that. Even a mention of Dogget or Reyes would be nice. That wasn't in the theatrical version iirc. I guess it's not in the 'extended edition' either. All the more reason to hope for a third and final movie!

I watched this film in the theatres, and let me tell you this:

I Want to Believe is an average TV episode that makes Fight the Future look like Citizen Kane.

If you think that 4 additional minutes added to Star Trek: Insurrection can actually save that film, then by all means make the purchase.

But, don't say I ddin't warn you.

This film has no re-watchability.

It is strictly a rental.

You can add it to your collection as a completist, like the way some fans have done with Star Trek: Nemesis.

I look forward to picking this up. I believe the added minutes are more horror in nature as Carter had to cut some of it back for the theatrical release. I could be wrong, though.

Hilarious avatar, Festivus for the rest of us! Just saw that episode

I just got my copy of X Files 2 - and enjoyed it again on DVD

At least Star Trek: Nemesis has some excellent production values. The X-Files: I Want to Believe screams louder than usual, "We're in Canada and we have no budget!"

For god's sake, the Sex & the City movie had a 60% larger budget than The X-Files.

The four additional minutes are scattered throughout the movie for the most part. If you can read German, there is a detailled comparison right here:

I didn't have time yet to read through all the descriptions, but browsing through them it seems like just a bit more explicit gore and some extended minor scenes. Nothing major. But I could be wrong, could have overlooked something in my hurry.

I just saw the extended edition of I Want To Believe in the store. the cover said there are 4 additional minutes in it.
Has anyone already seen it and can tell if it's worthwhile material or just added gore?
You may spoil me if you like.

It was ok, but I don't think it was theatre quality. May be good for a bored-at-home type movie.

I rented it tonight and watched it for the first time. You could definitely tell it was low budget and in Canada thats for sure. But overall I enjoyed it alot. Sure it felt like an episode but it was cool to see Mulder and Scully one last time. Sadly this will probably be the last X-files movie after it did so bad in the theaters but I was happy it was made still as overall I enjoyed it.
