TNA seem to have screwed up by giving away the results of two matches in advance by advertising the new champions ahead of tonights PPV for upcoming house shows. There is a reason that WWE doesn't do this - It's called selling PPV's.
There is a very interesting article called "The Stupidity Of WCW" which highlights every questionable decision the company had made. I've highlighted similarities in some of TNA's decisions below...
• WCW spent weeks hyping the debut of "The Machine". He wrestled DDP, lost and was never seen again. (Think of how many wrestlers TNA have brought in with weeks of hype, only for them to do very little and leave the company a short time later)
• Vince Russo hyped up a massive event that would change wrestling for Starrcade 1999. It ended up being a rehash of the Montreal Screwjob, this time with Bret taking the win. Nobody cared. (How often has TNA hyped these massive events, only for them to be either a rehash or a severe anti-climax?)
• During his second run on the creative team, Russo claimed the biggest problem with WCW was the mis-use of the cruiserweights. During his first run he built the cruiserweight division around Oklahoma (a fat spoof of JR) and Madusa (Alundra Blayze...a woman). (Abyss' title reign during the supposed "reinvention" of the X-Division)
• Ed Leslie (Brutus Beefcake) played a character called the Bootyman. His finisher was the High Knee. (Hiney, get it?) (Orlando Jordan and the awful innuendo that went along with his character)
• WCW lost a perfectly good working deal with NJPW because Eric Bischoff decided it was within his right to tell them who could and could not be featured in matches with the members of New Japan's nWo group. He then had the audacity to try and arrange for WCW and All Japan to enter into a talent exchange. NJPW were not happy. (NJPW weren't happy with TNA placing the IWGP titles on the British Invasion)
• Brian Kobbs' last appearance on WCW television featured him being hit by a life-size Goldberg cutout by Meng. Knobbs sold it. (Mick Foley vs Rocky Balboa anyone?)
• In 1994, Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan would regularly take company money and go on expensive nights out. They reportedly spent over $2000 of the company's money at a sushi restaurant. (No evidence to back this up in TNA, but they are being paid quite a lot of money for not doing very much)
According to several websites, it's reported that Austin Aries and Winter were advertised as X Division and Knockout Champions, respectively.
