WTF moments in Star Trek

I never really looked at that thing closely before. The design doesn’t seem like Federation technology, or Klingon for that matter. Maybe something he picked up along the way on DS9?
I thought the launchers were things Picard was already loading up prior to the crew finding him?

About that Ferengi whipgun.

Ferengi didn't become the Klingonreplacement they were supposed to be, could it be because that whipgun was too good and too accurate and Federation had no way to defeat it? So, back to Klingons.

Too good?

The whip has the most telegraphed attack so defeating it would be relatively easy.

I appreciated the attempt to do something imaginative that wasn't just another gun, but the whips weren't well thought out.

I haven't watched Insurrection for ages, so he probably was.

child Picard demanding to see his 'father', "Now. Now! Now! Now! NOW! NOW! NOW! NOW! NOW!!!"

Yeeesh...
Picard knew he wouldn't get anywhere by asking nicely, so he went into Human Brat Temper Tantrum Mode, which apparently annoys Ferengi as much as it does human adults. They let him see Riker just to get him to shut up.

So whatever works. I actually liked child Picard.

I have a WTF moment...

"The Last Outpost" - the Ferengi attacking the away team by... going ape and trying to give them hickies?

And from the same episode, Worf saying, "Pygmy cretins."

Of all people, Worf saying something like that?

The dialogue in The Last Outpost is really fucking bad at times.

Probably been mentioned already, but:
"Into Darkness" recreating Spock's iconic death scene line-by-line. I just sat there dumbfounded.

It's one thing to recreate iconic scenes from comics or other media on the big screen. But that WAS already the big, emotional finale, from there most popular Star Trek movie!
That's.. like recreating the famous "No, I am your father, Luke"-scene in a new Star Wars movie. Fucking Abrams man...

I'm so torn on this one, because if you were to take the scene in a vacuum, the actors did such an amazing job, and it was a great moment for Kirk in general in terms of humility and sacrifice, particularly given his arc leading up to that point.

But, the story choice at its core was.....well.....highly questionable.

I guess if it was less obvious, like redone but with another franchise rather than Star Trek, it would be more acceptable.

If it was a spoof or homage on a show that takes place after the movie came out, also okay.

But it's too parallel here, I suppose. If NuSpock also winds up in a similar situation in the Kelvinverse timeline that many years later, it'll be even weirder.
