Wrath of Khan Magazine article from 1982

Are there any notable Star Trek 3 deleted scenes that anyone knows of? The only one I can think of is Valkris revealing that she’s a Klingon to the merchant crew. I used to see a pic floating around of her with a mask on right before Kruge shows up.

Well, there is the lost child in the end:

That picture of the president was part of a live action scene from the trailer. Was not a posed shot. Star Trek VI has a ton of deleted scenes just like Wrath of Khan. Too bad we don't have a workprint of it as well!

As for Trek 3 -- there are a ton of deleted scenes or more accurately extended scenes. Virtually every scene involving David/Saavik/Grissom and the Klingons was significantly shortened. A bar room brawl was shot and cut. The one that both Nimoy and Takei have talked about is the "Hall of Ancient Thought" scene that comes after they climb the steps and before they emerge onto the alter in the final scene. Takei mentioned they wanted the movie to move very quickly and the pace to breakneck. I am most saddened by a great scene (on paper) where McCoy is acting strange in the turbo-lift with Kirk. Every time I read the Trek 3 script I am disappointed by how much they cut. I can understand the Saavik/David cuts but the Klingon and Enterprise crew cuts are a shame. Trek 3 is the shortest of the first 6 movies and contains 10 minutes of recycled footage from Khan to boot.

This one of the Efrosian Federation President's companion was in the trailer.

That trailer also had an alternate “Kirk” death shot in it as well.

There are a number of cut scenes or alternate takes in the trailer for TUC (Kirk calling for battlestations is another example). The 25th Anniversary Televised Special had a much different version of the banquet dinner scene aboard the Enterprise. It's a shame they butchered it in editing, as the scene in this special was MUCH better and more cohesive. The scene that ends up in the final film feels like it's been edited with a weed whacker.

So true. The dinner scene was the most edited down in the movie with all the secondary actors getting (and then losing) some nice lines where they were actually used as human characters rather than just functionaries of the ship. The first two acts of Trek 6 had a lot of great material cut that would have added at most 5-8 minutes of run time. A bit more at the Starfleet briefing, a glimpse of Kirk giving Gorkon a tour of the ship, the dinner scene, the trial and Martia's intro.

That scene made it into the DC Comics adaptation. The comic book version of STIII also had a scene between David and Saavik where he makes it clear that his mother didn't know about him adding protomatter to the Genesis matrix. I read that adaptation so many times as a kid that I was convinced that dialogue was in the film until someone here set me straight.

That just looks like a posed publicity photo to me.

Maurice was referring to the Scotty picture (see below), not the president.

These are two screengrabs from this deleted scene from the Star Trek VI trailer:

Regarding the Scotty picture...

...it was published as a deleted scene picture by Trekcore here: http://www.trekcore.com/specials/thumbnails.php?album=163

And here there is a confirmation, saying that the picture comes from the wife of the bearded actor: https://startrek.blognook.com/2017/05/02/scottysmurftrekcorestill-from-a-deleted-scene-in-the/

The description reads: "Still from a deleted scene in “The Undiscovered Country” in which the assassins stalk Scotty after he finds the missing space suits."

There is also this backstage picture, which would seem to confirm it's actually a deleted scene picture.

The children's picture book, illustrated with photos, shows Valkris wearing her silver veil, and then after it is removed.

Here are some pictures of Valkris with the silver veil:

The last one (with Nimoy) comes from the movie program guide. Therin do you know if the first two pictures come from the childer's picture book? Is the book this one?

There was also a fish-like alien on the Merchantman featured in publicity pics and in the DC Comics adaptation.

This is a screenshot of the fish-like alien, but I couldn't find any publicity pic of him.

The stuntman doubling for Paul Sorenson who played the merchant captain is so bad that it sinks to Original Series level of bad stunt doubles. LOL his bald cap is a laugh and a half even though it's only seen for 2 seconds

Here ya go...

129 INT. ENTERPRISE CORRIDORS
THRU
131
The Crewmen follow serreptitiously [sic], CAMERA tracking
after Scotty through the labyrinthine corridors...

Then Kirk and Bones get rescued, which leads to...

135 THEIR POV

the TWO CREWMEN who were stalking Scotty lie dead.
Bones kneels, conducting a hasty examination.
So the implication is that they are stalking Scotty and Valeris chooses to kill them during that time, which is presumably why they're found in the corridor.

Still, awfully convenient for them to just happen to see Scotty with them

The photo still looks like a publicity still shot of this scene, though.

Yes indeed! And yes. Mine is in storage.

ST IV had a scene where Dr Chapel meets Sarek (below), tells him there is still time, and takes him inside the Federation Council. IIRC, it is in the comic adaptation.

Also Kirk telling Saavik he understood about "her condition" which prevented her from travelling to Earth. (ie. she may be pregnant with Spock's child.)

Aha! Thank you! Pic #13 features the male Efrosian usher in the UFP Council Chambers. Up until now, I had only ever seen him in the FASA "ST IV Sourcebook", and the b/w pic looked a bit like his hair and facepaint had been altered in Photoshop, but here he is on set!

He is wearing a repurposed, dyed Federation translator's uniform (below) from ST: TMP.
