WoW - Musings & Discussion

3.2 has been released and is out, for those who somehow did not know. Expect the realms to be playable sometime around 7-9pm PST, regardless of the notice on the load screen. :p

O rly? I had kind of decided to quit, but this has me interested again.

Naw, I think that at least the realms not getting severe maintenance will be up around 3-4.

Looking forward to this. It has been a slow ramp up to Icecrown, but it is really starting to feel like we are about to wage an epic battle.

Love the new Druid forms. Love the new double-paned quest window. Ambivalent about yet again having to respec my DK, but maybe I'll get it right this time. :p The Wolvar orphan is just too cute. :) Took my level 1 Troll shaman for a ride on the new Org/TB zep. Haven't been to the new tourney grounds yet.

Anyone know what difficulty level the new dungeons are?

I re-subbed to check out the 3.2 changes. Thankfully, there's a lot of new dailies for the Argent Tournament. I got the Crusader title fairly quickly, but ended up burnt out on the dailies by that point. There's a couple of brand new areas for the dailies, including a new island north of the Argent Tournament area. Flying past the Vrykul boats being attacked by the Kraken remind me of why I love this game.

There's at least 9 dailies now once you've gotten exalted with the Sunreavers or Silver Covenant and hit Crusader. It'll be nice for skipping over some of the more tedious dailies while still saving up for the tabards mounts and pets that I want. If there weren't enough before, there's even more to buy now with the new crusader tabard, pally mount, and the pony for your squire. I have to see that.

I want to see the new instance soon, but will probably put that off for another night.

My druid's cat is black and the bear is a greyish color.

5, 10, 25 and heroic modes for all three I believe. At the very least 10 and 25 have heroic modes.

I am too burned out on the game. 3.2 held my interest just long enough to look at all the new "shiny" stuff.

Gonna jump to Champions Online at the end of the month and ride that into Star Trek Online and on into the new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. (which I think will finally be the game to steal WoW's thunder)

Lore-wise this whole Argent Tournament thing has never made sense to me. Yeah yeah finding the greatest champions to take on the Bitch King etc. But the threat he poses feels rather reduced when he sits holed up in his Ice Mordor fortress and lets a tournament take place in his back yard.

That said gameplay-wise I wouldn't mind giving it a try. I don't do much raiding so I'm glad to see this new instance has a 5-man version.

oh and as a shammy fan the new "drop 5 totems at once" function is a welcome addition.

Mounts being cheaper and accessible at lower levels is good too - now that all the action is in Northrend, there's only so long we want to spend running around the Barrens. Or, god forbid, Desolace.

Just got my lvl 40 alliance character his epic mount. Also made an alliance character on my main horde's PvP server.

BTW, what do you guys think about Blizzard allowing us to play both factions on PvP servers like PvE (normal) servers?

I always thought it was very strange that they didn't let you play both factions on pvp servers. I never saw the point, aside from the whole generic Horde vs. Alliance thing. But I don't pvp anyway, so I don't care one way or the other. :)

I imagine the rationale was that it encourages anti-social and anti-competitive behaviours. For example, you could gank your own guildmates or inform one faction of an upcoming raid on a town or somesuch.

A buddy of mine already had a lvl 1 Horde toon whisper him spam telling him off because he had ganked an alliance level 80 a couple of times. Buddy jumped on his alt. He reported him, but you're going to see more of this kind of abuse of the system.

It's not like this didn't happen before on PVP. They just got a friend or used another account to go yell at whoever ganked them.

Yeah, but it's not as easy. Putting one or two little extra steps into doing something can easily deter them from doing it because people are lazy. Everyone can have an alt and it only takes two minutes to create one, while not everyone has access to more than one account or will be bothered to have a friend on an opposing faction talk shit for them. You can't sell to yourself on the AH because they don't want people bidding on their own items and driving up the price. People still find ways to do it, but the number of those who do so is likely reduced by making it more difficult. According to Blizzard anyway. It doesn't need to be a lot more difficult.
