WoW - Musings & Discussion

It's all permanent. Every last person, regardless of their level 1-85 or whether they only have Vanilla or Catacylsm will experience it. Will also be a massive patch that everyone will download but they said it will be done in increments over several months so as not to strain anyone's bandwidth caps/limits.

Late this summer I'll probably go visit a lot of my favorite spots in Azeroth.

I went to Blackrock Mountain last night to farm Thorium Brotherhood, in the last patch they made a change to the interior of the mountain they should have made four years ago: the ability to mount up inside. You no longer dismount when you pass through the door. No doubt this is one tiny change among many they're making in increments leading up to Cataclysm, BRM is going to be a center of attention again in the expac.

Well deserved, I've met newer players who've never even bothered to check that place out for the achievements, and that is some real quality end-game content right there.

I miss the huge 5-mans like Maraudon, BRD and Dire Maul, wish there was more of that in the newer content. The new dungeons feel so small, in general, even compared to a few of the BC ones. Raiding used to be like "Holy shit!" and a lot of people only had blue dungeon gear and a couple of epics if they were lucky (sharing two pieces of loot per boss between 40 people can create that situation).

To experience the entirely new zones you will haveto purchase the expansion. The reworked zones will be open to everyone.

So what are everyone's current WoW goals?

Myself, I'm trying to save up at least 50k and then buy a Battered Hilt for my DK. Why 50k? Because then the 10k cost of a hilt wouldn't seem so ridiculous by comparison.

I'd also like to find a guild that's a good fit but the guilds on my server are pretty much locked down or raid at weird times. I may have better luck getting into a good guild when Cataclysm releases.

My older brother and I are probably going to be looking for a server that's a good fit for us. He's been checking out Emerald Dream, and seems to be liking it a lot. I'll probably move my druid over to check it out whenever I feel like subbing again.

The main thing I've been struggling with all this expansion has been finding a guild that's a good fit. About halfway through, I decided to settle with a guild that was never going to get very far, figuring I would only be trading one mid tier guild's problems for another if I decided to quit. In the end, that just left me burned out, sick of raiding, and not feeling the guild had anywhere near as much interest towards progression as I did.

I don't consider myself hardcore by any stretch, but if I'm going to raid, I want to see progression. I don't really care about badge farming and that sort of thing. We had people turning down invites to come work with us on the Lich King in our 10 man because they would lose out the badges from not clearing the first several wings in our saved lockout. Besides that, there was a lot of variation in the quality of the people they were bringing. Most of the better players left for a better guild, so we'd end up having to drag along warm bodies.

I just don't have any interest in being in a situation like that again. Then again, I've been so busy at work since I changed jobs that I probably won't have anywhere near enough free time to devote to raiding next time around. Not unless we can get a lot done in a weekend session. Might have to pass on serious raiding this time around.

I'm downloading the free demo of Star Trek Online even as we speak. We'll see how that goes.

If I stick with WoW (and I probably will...) I would like to run Blackwing Lair once before they change it for Cata. I missed out on running the original Onyxia, but since the new version is the same as the old one it doesn't really matter. I also still need to run the two AQ raids

Personally I have no use for the Battered Hilt, but I'd love to tag along on the quests.

I've already got a nice stash of badges to buy heirloom gear, gems and what not for my upcoming Goblin Shaman, got all the professions to the current max (save leatherworking, at 446) and I've got enough gold to help with whatever the new riding skill increase will cost and purchase anything short of absurd-cost items.

Plus there are plans for some of us in my Horde guild to roll an Alliance guild of only Worgen and possible names for a druid and/or rogue Worgen parked on the server.

I'm also thinking of planting alts in various zones on the off chance I won't be teleported to either Dalaran or Orgrimmar so I can see first hand immediately the changes to the zones.

I don't know yet whether I'm going to level a goblin or worgen first or simutaneously, or which 80 I'll take to 85 first. It's going to have to wait until I see what the new zones, class changes and race changes look like.

my wife and i are leveling a pair of Mages through BGs. i've also been playing in an all paladin group during my lunch breaks... i want to have my paladin hit 80 before Cataclysm.

Playing the AH to save G for Cata. Taking screencaps of the old zones before they are gone. Leveling alts.

I've already got.... a lot of gold saved up for Cata, enough to buy as many new mounts as I want and any new crafted gear. I've got my KS title, now just raiding sporadically to get the last couple of items I care to get. Mostly PvPing, grinding some old reputations (36 reps exalted at the moment), that kind of thing.

My account got hacked about a month ago, I was GL and it resulted in the breakup of our guild (things had been going poorly for weeks leading up to the straw and to be honest I was so burnt out on WoW when it happened I did little to keep it together... neither did most of my officers though). It really sucked at the time, but I'm not stressed about it anymore. About a half dozen of us transferred off our little shitty server (Azshara) to Cho'gall where we can actually pug raids that aren't still failing on Saurfang and the Battlegroup is much better. We're planning on just having a nice little 10 man guild in Cataclysm. Same loot, much less stress.

To kill as many alliance as I can in the BGs. Seriously, that's really all I do. I have no gold so I'll never get flying probably. I have a mage lying around that I could do dailies with or something, but that's not fun for me and I refuse to play parts of a game that feel like work. I'm just all about the killing on my pally.

I'm desultorily leveling a female Dwarf Warrior named Svelte, which is a joke that roughly three people have picked up on to date. I might let my subscription lapse at the end of the month, I only picked it up again out of impatience for Cataclysm. But, damnit, between RLFD and BGs sans-twinks, low-level play is just so much fun. :(

This is exactly what I am doing. But you do realize that the Battered Hilt will probably be worth 100g after Cat. Still I don't have a whole lot else to do other than buy gear. I just bought my orc DK Hellfrozen Bonegrinders. Now those are nice. I have completed most of my goals, just did the Guardian of Cenarius title. It suits my little RP heart, my DK did that title as a penance for her days as a tool of for evil.

So what will be available in Cat that we need so much Gold for? I don't recall needing tons in WOTLK, but then I didn't bother lvling the proffs until the insanity of prices had calmed down.

I've got my Goblin name ready to go. Can anyone tell me what classes they will be able to be, I am not very up to date. I have to get my heirlooms for her, though I don't know how invested in the character I will be.

 Looks like I killed another guild. After I quit WoW, my guild fell apart. A friend of mine logged on after a while (he had a pre-paid that hadn't expired yet) and it was a mess. I think that makes me 3 for 4.

Goblins can be everything except Pallies and Druids.

I just thought of a good name: Hemogoblin.

Cho'gall! i recently rolled a druid on Cho'gall... i heard that the Alliance/Horde imbalance is nuts (Horde own that server). so i had to check it out on the alliance side. but i havent gotten too far, i'm still somewhere in my teens.

DAMN IT!!! I was planning on a Pally. Bloody hell.

And Hemogoblin is very good.. be nice if you could have a goblin DK and specialize in Blood.

Okay I finally read http://www.wowwiki.com/Goblin_(playable) and it says Goblins can be DK's.. what right away? Okay, cool. I guess I can make one on another server and then transfer it to my server that already has a DK on it. I want to play a plate char but warriors bore me to tears. Wish they could have been paladins.

Put it this way: Wintergrasp usually consists of 1-2 raids of Horde members running around looking to kill the 5 Alliance guys with their 15 stack of Tenacity. "Alliance: 0/16 vehicles? Again?" I haven't checked the record book, we owned Alliance on Azshara too, and we only had a 1:3 advantage.
