nope i wouldn't take the bullet for them it would make them so unhappy to see me laying there dead that i would not want them to suffer.

Of course I would, but I think i'd only take a bullet if it was my wife, my kids, my grandkids or my parents who were going to be on the receiving end of the bullet.
Everyone else can bite me.

Family.... yes. For someone outside the family... I highly doubt it. For a girl that I love... nope. She'd move on get over me and then meet someone else. So I would end up dying so she cold date someone else... oh hell no. She dies, I'd get over it and move on.. and have a good pity story to boot.

The only people I love that much are my parents and siblings: I don't have a spouse or children.
If it was my mother and father--well, I've seen what happens to parents who lose their children. It would hurt them worse to have to bury me than for me to have to bury them. That's convenient for me, admittedly, but it's true nonetheless.
If it was one of my siblings, I would discourage them from taking a bullet for me. Their lives are as valuable as mine, and vice versa. Best to just let events take their course.
Everyone else is on their own. Nobody's paying me to take that kind of risk, or make that kind of sacrifice, and I certainly wouldn't expect it from anyone else.
For my nieces and nephew? No question. In fact, probably for any child if I had enough time to react.
For my husband? Yeah, I would. I'm pretty tubby, so there's a lot of places I got take a bullet, and not have it be a lethal wound. Hubby is a skinny but tall toothpick. A bullet would rip him in half.

Yes, I'd take a bullet for someone. I'd try that bullet-catching trick that Ozymandias used. 
Heroic/romantic fantasies like that are pretty common among genre fans. Or at least they used to be in the old days. I imagine fantasies about killing and torture are more common now.
Sounds like you don't really love that girl at all if you think of love in such conditional terms. If you did love her, you'd protect her and make sure she's happy regardless of where she ends up in the future.
Of course your girl is free to love whomever she chooses to love, should you end up taking a bullet for her and dying. To allow someone to die (by not taking her bullet) so that she doesn't get to love anyone else... well, that seems a little selfish.

Well I survive the bullet in both variations of my fantasy. In the Hero scenario I don't think much beyond the idea that I just saved a human life which to me sounds like something that would make you really feel good about yourself. In the sex variation the girl visits me in the hospital. My family is crying but happy I am live. The girl runs in "I must see the man who saved me!" I tell her it's no bif deal and it's just a flesh wound and things like that. She then gets on top of me and shows me how grateful she is by having sex with me. I tell her that she didn't need to do that but she couldn't help it because now she is in love with me. I then realize I am in love with her and we live happily ever after.

I'd like to think yes if for my wife or Mom or Dad. It would depend on all others though. Only one way to find out for sure and I hope that never happens!
I'd like to think I'd have the courage to take a bullet for my loved ones. I certainly wouldn't want any of them to die because of me. But I have never been shot at, so I don't know for sure. I mean, I'm not selfish - if it's a choice of them or me, I'd vote them, y'know? But I'd still be scared of dying. Who wouldn't be?

I'm being realistic... choosing your own life over other's is selfish? It's survival.
