The TNG era has been thoroughly explored. We don't need a show about the Maquis. A Maquis show also couldn't have lots of aliens other than the Cardassians and the Bajorans (there are probably a lot of Bajorans in the Maquis). However, a novel about the Maquis would be a good idea.

I've always been mystified by how the Maquis element was apparently completely forgotten by VOY writers after the pilot. Shouldn't it have made a difference that crew loyalties were divided down the middle? It was one of many elements of tension & human drama that were introduced to the premise of the story only to be promptly and entirely ignored...
