No. They could just relocate to another, safer planet. It is, after all, just land. At least the war was over, that's worth a few border planets.

The Jewish half of my family had to run from the Nazis. They'd rather move to Brazil than letting themselves get killed to prove a point. I'd do the same.

My life and the lives of my family are more important to me than land. But it's a matter of perspective, I suppose.
