Would the ENT-D fared better against The Scimitar?

Could the ENT-D have kicked the Scimitars BUTT?

Just wondering if you guys think that the ENT-D would have been better at defending itself against Shinzon's Scimitar? We saw the ENT-E get the CRAP kicked out of it and the scimitar was STILL almost at full power! or was the scimitar just that better armed?

I don't believe the E-D would have done any better, it might have done "worse" in the sense that it gets to the ramming stage sooner.

The E-E was simply outmatched in terms of firepower and it is more heavily armed than the Galaxy. Probably the most telling factor was it was fighting "blind". Even if the E-E was equal to the Scim in terms of firepower she wouldn't be able to bring it all to bear on the Reman vessel effectively, as the Scimitar was able to do to the E-E.

The Enterprise-D still has the Cytherian inspired shield improvements on file. I would have just sat back and laughed with my 300% improved shields and waited the 40 mintues for the rest of the fleet to arrive.

The Scimitar was a completely horrid fantasy ship that ruined any sense of believablilty. "Pefect Cloak"? Give me a break, what happened to gravitic and tachyon sensors?

A race of albino vampires is going to create a ship 200 years more advanced than anything the preminent space power in the alpha quadrant can whip up?

I dunno, I think that the Scimitar was over the top unbelieavbly powerful to begin with. However a refit Galaxy class with up to the date 2379 tech? I mean the frame is somewhat bigger and wider I think than the sovereign class and they would make decent heavy hitters in the Dom War...*sigh*

You know what? I don't think any single ship of Starfleet could've stood against that monstrosity from Nemesis. I mean I think the E did as best as it could and well I think the D would've done just as well as needed by the script.

In that mess it was the only way the E made it without the fleet.

I don't think the Galaxy class would have done better; she strikes me as an engineering aberration, as none of Starfleet's later designs look anything like her. The E-E, while not a pure warship, seemed more outfitted for war than the E-D.

But as others have said, the Scimitar was pretty ridiculous, so it's a bit like asking which Jedi could beat a 50 foot tall Anakin in his prime wearing light saber resistant armor.

Hmm considering the Ent-E was basically a top of the line warship and almost got destroyed I dont see how the Ent-D would have fared any better.

Couldn't see the ENT-D doing any better. It still couldn't have hit the Scimitar effectively, and the large surface area of the disc makes it a bigger target. Plus the Galaxy class' predilection for coolant leaks wouldn't have helped.

Strange huh? Talk about a manufacturing defect!

even the ramming of the scimitar would be a fail for Ent D. just due to the fact that its saucers are more round shaped than ent E.

Well, all of you are forgetting the one advantage the E-D has over the E-E,
torpedoes! It seems like the E-E ran out of torpedoes awful fast?

Wait a second, miraclefan, let me get this straight: You actually think the outcome of the movie Star Trek: Nemesis would have been different if the Enterprise depicted in the movie would have been of another class?

And yes, I know I'm a spoilsport once again. :(

You have no basis for comparing the hull strength of the two ships. The fact that the saucer must be built to at least survive planet fall gives us a bare miminum of stresses it was designed for. Regarding the shape of the two hulls, from above the Sovereign is more dagger shaped while the side profile of the Galaxy shows less vertical slope on the saucer section.

True, perhaps a wind tunnel test is in order. :rommie:

Guys why does everyone FORGET that shinzon wanted Picard alive? He could have destroyed the Enterprise quite easily with 50 disruptors & 22 torpedo launchers.

Very true.
The uprated Enterprise really didn't fare that well against the Scimitar I'm afraid.
The Enterprise-D would likely fare the same if we include all the proper upgrades so it's practically on par with the Sovereign class.

SF was shown in the shows to be technologically superior to it's neighboring powers in various futures ... and given it's part of the Federation it makes sense.
On the other hand ... in the movies it's a vastly different story.
How can SF allow for these types of technological blunders to occur and rely on sheer luck?

The Sovereign would eat a Galaxy for lunch. It's faster, more manoeuvrable, has ablative armour, regenerative shields; the ship was designed to fight the Borg.

I find it hard to believe that a retro-fitted Galaxy (as tough as it might be) would prevail over a Sovereign, a vessel designed from scratch with combat in mind, all other things being equal.

So no, if anything, the Scimitar would have taken out the D even faster.
