Would Sisko have handled Armus & Vagra III

and different than Picard?

I can see Sisko, from a distance, launching a quantum torpedo barrage on the planet.

I think Sisko's interaction with Armus would have been different than Picard's philosophical speech but I can't see the writers justifying a capitol punishment on Star Trek.

^They never got a conclusive reading on Armus's substance. We don't know if he would add flavor to Gumbo or not.

It was Armus's curse to remain on a deserted planet. Alone. Forever.

Pre Wolf-359 Sisko might have handled it like Picard.

DS9 The Sisko would have designed a new ship to deal with Armus-esque Threats called the USS Rage Issues, yelled at it, obliterated it, stared coldly at its smoking ruin from a viewscreen while refusing to celebrate with his Klingon allies and then deleted all evidence that it ever happened. And then he'll live with it, because he can live with it.

Sisko would have tasked O 'Brien with creating a rudimentary sewage system and then...

"- You drained me! Picard never drained me! <echoing, coming from the depths>
- I'm not Picard."

The line is...

Q: You hit me! Picard never hit me.

Sisko: I'm not Picard.

Q: Indeed not. You're much easier to provoke. How fortunate for me.

...It shows Commander Sisko not quite at a captain’s level of dealing with some situations. I think that was the point of making him one — so we’d see some mistakes. Picard had been a captain on two ships by the time he got to Vagra III. Maybe Sisko would have lost his cool with Armus and gotten more of his crew killed. Armus was all the negative and ugly that remained of his people. I think if they fed that anger with more anger, it’d only add to its power and play further into its game.

I think you might be right if it was Sisko from the early season. But season seven Sisko would have been more cautious, especially after losing Jadzia.

It's actually Vagra II. Sisko, as an African-American, could have called Armus an angry black tar baby, and gotten away with it. I know that's an offensive term but it is a literal description of Armus.
