Would remaking TOS episodes make you upset?

If they fully embrace the logical requirement that time travel alters the timeline (or puts you in a different timeline on each trip) then it could work to have the same story done differently. I don't really see the need for it in Trek. Doctor Who on the other hand...

Upset? After watching the deconstruction of Star Trek since 2009, a lot of my anger, frustration, and sadness is gone.

I'd be unsurprised at this point. The Abrams/Kurtz Dreck "creatives" simply don't have the skill or the knowledge to fully understand and carry on Star Trek. Remaking TOS episodes (probably "The Cage" will come first) is about the best they can do. Of course, they'll botch it because they don't understand iconic Star Trek (nor really even like it, IMO) and it will just be more insult added to countless injuries.

If CBS had made it clear that STD was set in a rebooted universe and was not the "Prime" universe, I'd be a lot more forgiving. It wouldn't have affected the quality, but at the the end of the day, it would have been an alternate universe and iconic Trek would continue on unaffected.

I think it’s an absolutely horrible idea to be honest. If it gets to the point where Trek is cannibalising itself then somebody needs to pull the plug. Star Trek needs to push forward and do something new instead of continually living off past glories.
It's been "cannibalizing itself" since 2009.

With the increasing number of TOS characters who are now in SNW (Kirk, Spock, Uhura, Scotty, Chapel, etc.) it seems inevitable if it goes on for long enough we are getting a full on TOS reprisal.

The IDW Kelvinverse comics did remakes of episodes between the 2009 movie and "Into Darkness". There were lots of differences, but explained within universe. It was a safe way for IDW to tread water while waiting for a Kelvinverse sequel. Then "Into Darkness" itself retold slabs of "The Wrath of Khan". A lot of people found that redundant.

Fresh stories with a mix of old and new characters would be way more effective.

They experimented with this in SNW right? With the alternate timeline? If they can make it as well done as they did then, sure. But I'd prefer they just remake one or two TOS episodes a season, mixed in with their own stuff.

i think alluding to them, maybe seeing parts of them from a different perspective but in a new story episode that is related somehow, or followups, but not wholesale remakes of them. not even the ones generally regarded as crappy, like spock's brain. have rand have a bigger part, maybe, and some "lower decks" episodes where we learn more about some of the one-offs or ill-fated redshirts. have dr. pulaski show up due to a time travel incident and meet both of mulvaur's TOS characters (played by different actresses, of course)!

i did like much of the balance of Terror revisit

bring ensign naraht to the screen!

They should explore a new Universe, with different characters, different tech, different Factions, different history. Just like Gundam, when you are bored with the Prime Universe, go to Alternate Universe. And when the Alternate Universe fail to hit the spot, fans will beg for the Prime again. Thus, give them the Prime.

This is a transcript of the first production meeting for "Section 31"...

I'm thinking, that the current "Prime Universe" that they use in new Star Trek series is not the "Prime Universe" that used by TOS in the '60. The entire universe has change after Star Trek Enterprise, and then goes into Star Trek Discovery and then Star Trek Strange New World.

So even if Star Trek Strange new World goes directly into the Kirk era again, it still not Star Trek TOS. Because they are basically happen in different universe, despite claimed to be Prime Universe. Or maybe, the Prime Universe follow Star Trek Enterprise, while the TOS universe stay with TOS universe? I don't know.
