Would Jude Law make a good Joker

Nowhere Man

Commodore
It's been said in the past that Chris Nolan was going to cary the Joker over into a 3rd Batman film had Heath Ledger not died.I doubt they will do that now,but let's say they do, do you think Jude Law would be a good choice. I don't think he should mimic ledgers preformance per say,but he could have the same costume and scar and even pull off the same craziness that Ledger had. I think it would be close enough to make it seem like the same character. I also think he resembles Ledger enough too. Any other actors come to mind?

He was nicely malevolent with dark humor in Road to Perdition and is closer my ideal Joker look (Brian Bolland/Jim Aparo) but because of that he wouldn't look too much like Ledger's (he'd be taller, more angular, not so young). A replacement would probably be too distracting with slight differences.

I still want Christian Camargo (Rudy Cooper in the first season of Dexter, and more recently of The Hurt Locker) to assume the role, if its continued in the next film. But Law would certainly be much more high profile, and the films haven't cast (m)any leading roles with second tier actors, so he may be more likely.

yeah I've always thought Jude Law would have made an excellent Joker, even kind of looks like whoever played young Jack Napier in the first Batman movie. Or better yet pointy jaw like Joker has on BTAS, But if not Joker he might be able to do Edward Nigma justice and if not Jude, either Johnny Depp or Crispin Glover

on a side note I've always thought Shannon Sossymon would have made a great Lois Lane too

Law used to turn up on casting wishlists for The Joker a few years ago, before Ledger got it.

I think it was often the toothy grin and lean face that people were going on. However, I think he probably has the right acting chops to have done it and would, like Ledger, have proven a surprise hit in the role. He can do obnoxious (The Talented Mr Ripley), maelevolent (The Road to Perdition) and offbeat (AI).

I think the reality is, Chris Nolan isn't going to recast the role and I also think few actors would be willing to fill Ledger's footsteps in this role (Dr Parnassum was a different kettle of fish). But a Law Riddler might be interesting.

What's with all this Jude Law nonsense? I thought this was TrekBBS! Nathan Fillion for Joker! Nathan Fillion For Riddler! Nathan Fillion for Mr. Freeze! And Nathan Fillion for Batman too!

As long as they don't play the Riddler as the Joker. Two different types of crazy.

Wow..great post and I agree with your idea Joker look (aparo mainly)...I see joker more like that too. That is why I like this Robert Knepper guy on Heroes..I think he has that Joker look of aparo...

I think Jude Law is a terrific actor, who could easily have been a phenominal Joker... but if that is to be, it will have to be when the inevitable next Bat reboot happens. Keep in mind, that might be sooner than we all think. From what I've heard, they don't even have a treatment for movie 3 yet, so if Nolan does decide to make a sequel to TDK, it might still be years off.

They haven't said anything publicly, of course, but after Green Lantern DC has nothing in the pipeline. Wonder Woman and Flash are both long stuck in development hell, and due to the rights issues with the Siegel estate they have said there will be no new Superman movie in the foreseeable future. I'm making an educated guess here, but if Nolan doesn't sign on for Batman 3 by the end of next year, I say WB moves on without him and brings in a new creative team to start over.

DC really is missing the boat..i really think a well done DR.FATE movie could be a hit with its 'Raiders' look and magic stuff...

Other actors I'd be interested in are Hugo Weaving as Mr. Freeze, Kate Winslet as Poison Ivy (though those two would be hard to do "realistically") or James McAvoy as Riddler (or Geoffrey Rush if they want to go with an older actor).
