She was more interested in the monkey during Resolutions, but once her yearning for home started to lose it's glisten Kathy would have needed someone larger than the monkey to keep her warm at night, at least as warm as many monkeys might, if we must stress who the Indian's competition was on that silly planet for this womans affections.
But if in the beginning the Val Jean had survived and not Voyager, that the Starfleet types were playing the role of grateful guest(Tuvok and Janeway surely would have wrestled for command of the ship? Why would they accept the command of a common criminal?) and Janeway was offered the XO position for their slog home? Could she have grown to respect him enough to take her into her bed?
Or if the Maquis had mutinied aboard Voyager during the first season and afterward Janway was offered a "senior" position to save face and so as not to be out and out marooned?Could this identity their redeem himself though exmalpe? Could she have eventually felt at home on his ship and in his flannel pajamas?
Or maybe if she has stayed in the Coma during Scorpion like the Doctor thought she might, so that Captain Chakotay had had the run of the ship for a year or more in so that it would be unkind to remove him for his massive job? Could they have made it?
