Would anyone else like this retcon?

Ever since I first saw them, I thought that these aliens from Season 1 (Children of the Comet)

pretty closely resembled these aliens

from Enterprise S1 "Silent Enemy." What would you think if the show runners made them the same species, (obvious differences in appearance aside), and the two groups could be from different sects / nations of the same species. What if Pike's crew began running into more of them, and then you've got the makings of throwbacks and references to Enterprise and that mysterious alien species the NX-01 encountered early in its first mission?

Their first encounter in Enterprise was hostile. Their second encounter (if played this way) was in SNW, and it wasn't exactly friendly. What if there were other encounters, and missing persons, and ships, and.... ?

The best thing about those aliens in Silent Enemy is that they were truly alien. Having these new aliens be the same species would do a disservice to the former aliens.

Also they were by definition "silent" which is an automatic step up to having comet-mormons knocking on your airlocks

Well, the group in Enterprise obviously felt no need to communicate. I have a feeling the group in SNW would never have communicated either, except that the Enterprise interfered with their mormon-comet. Humanity has its varieties of archetypes, including both religious zealots and pirates. No reason the aliens can't either.

On a related note, (not going to start a new thread for it), what about the Tandarans?

Would anyone like them to show up in SNW? I thought they were one of the races that had a lot of potential that went unused in Enterprise. They could either be a problematic Federation member, or a holdout whose planet and trade routes are smack in the middle of Federation space, and they are causing trouble. Plenty of material to mine, there, and create a little continuity with the past.

Since the SNW writers seem to be real enamored of Enterprise, based on the LD crossover.

On one hand, its possible to suggest that they breeded with humanoid species to explain the eyes.

At the same time, answering this is like revealing the true identity of the Breen. It ruins the mystique. Not every mystery needs to be solved. Let’s keep some things alien, please.

Why not? Let keep the allegory of Guantanamo Bay going and discuss how the Tandarans planned to close their detention facilities and then never followed though and instead expanded military commissions. Maybe they waterboarded some Klingons in addition to other dehumanizing things without the Federation's knowledge.

Maybe we can even see a Tandaran warship, which never made the cut.

I can see your point, but I think it would actually work in favor to their alienness. The "Shadow Of The Comet" ones seemed to have a similar perceptions of time as the Heptapods from Story Of Your Life/Arrival and may have had undiscernable reasons for the attacks, seen and mentioned in ENT, that may have been necessary, according to their point of view, that important future events will happen like they predicted.

Think this would actually make them even more alien!

I liked the set up of the Tandarans were meant to be the big power in the Alpha Quadrant. They were the Proto-Federation with an enormous military, multiple aliens living on their worlds, and hefty influence.

But it just didn't happen and humanity took their place.

But we know who the Breen are. They are the Ubese from Star Wars, magically transplanted from a long time ago and a galaxy far, far away to the Earth's 24th Century Milky Way.

I've been enjoying the Enterprise references in SNW. It's a show I really enjoy, for many of the same reasons I enjoy SNW. That being said, I'd much rather SNW spend its limited time developing the stories they're currently working on. The odd reference aside, both shows are strong enough to stand on their own, and have their own identities.
