Worst Review of ST so far

You want to know where all the funny is?

Wait for it.....

Its in all those that thinks she's serious :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

She wasnt funny until I read the rest of the responses that thinks she's serious.

Pure genius!!!!

I have been a member of this board for 45 seconds and I already <3 Milo Bloom for 2 reasons:

1) Bloom County is the greatest comic strip evar.

2) this:

It's too spot on to be serious. It's like when Trey Parker and Matt Stone use South Park to take on Trek. You can tell they sorta like it because they don't just bash the fans or Shatner's acting, they dig in deep and make it part of the story. Remember the early S1 or S2 ep that was basically a lift of "Dagger of the Mind"?

I thought it was pretty funny, and actually managed to make some valid criticisms of Trek like:

The thing I thought was really cool was that the actors were sending a really amazing message of ‘different but the same’ by having everyone in the movie come from different planets. Chris Pine’s Jim Kirk is from an Earth-like planet called Iowa (You mean like the state? Exactly. Not much originality there,eh?), Zachary Quinto was from a planet of elves and Zoe Saldana is from a planet where everyone has a distinct color (she’s black, but her sister was all green).
.

You can take that as a critique of Trek's homogenous cultures (Klingons=warriors, Ferengi=angry gerbils, etc.)

Sometimes you folks are just a little too close to the subject matter (and of course humor is always subjective).

Valerie Atherton's Playground and Intellectual Department is the consistently chuckle-worthy and, as Milo cleverly discovered, usually a little more thought provoking than one might expect at first glance. And no, before you ask, I'm not "Valerie" just a fan. I do encourage you to read the rest of her reviews. For those of you who didn't "get it"...well I have no idea who Valerie really is but I would guess that she has quite a bit more geek cred than she lets on. It's pretty obvious if you read her reviews.

Of course if Valerie reads this she wont know what the hell i'm talking about.

Read the rest of her stuff, you'll have fun with it if you let yourselves.

oh my...I think it was all a joke...

I know it was a parody, but it's still annoying.

Reminds me of everything I've ever read by Peter David: "LOOK AT ME! I'M WRITING!"

Feh.

Joe, anti-Peter

Not a bad review, if anything-- it's from somebody who thinks Star Trek in general is the lamest thing alive and this person still enjoy the film.

This is why the movie was so successful.

I don't read Peter David blogs-- but I rather enjoyed the first four books of "New Frontier." I may need to continue that series someday...

I didn't see the funny either. Sounded like a 12 year old's girl's attempt at humor. Not enough Brittany Spears for you?

I suspect it's a "legitimate" or "for real" review, just written by a teen-ager. I've seen teens who think and write like this. So it's "serious," just from a moronic point of view.

Yes, and Star Trek XI is a new "historical document" for us to view, too.

Take my advice, and avoid any emails from Nigerian royalty.

That some people still seem to think that she's serious is testament to how sly this stuff really is...

Vapid. Love it.

Exactly! I am speechless regarding people who do not get the tone of Valerie's review!
It's the exact same tone as Stephen Colbert's Report! Satire and irony.

Perhaps a reverse of the worst review topic, but I just read several STXI comments on IMDB and have to admit I laughed out loud when I read the by-line for one:

There she BLOWSSSsss

Minor correction would be to replace "There" with "Thar".

IMDB. Even when they try to make a point...they're too dumb to spell correctly.
