A remake that was as bad as the original would be pointless, as true ineptitude is funnier than an ironic pastiche. And a souped-up, serious remake would just fall flat, IMO.

The original is untouchable. And hilarious. And has Bela Lugosi in it. A bit.

Back on the original topic, I'd say that any remake of Lawrence of Arabia would be a bad call at this point. And add Star Wars, for all its flaws, to that list. Remaking it would just be unimaginable, and would likely have all the magic sucked away from it.
