Worst Main Cast Character in Any ST TV Series

I haven't watched all series all the way through with the exception of VOY so I can't make a through assessment.

2takes you might disown me: Riker is a ship wrecking womanizer. I don't find him charming. I like Frakes. Give me frakes in the 1st officer's chair.

I find Troi a waste but boy, her interloping mother was interesting on some level. Go, Majel! (Still best as a computer though, IMO)

From Voyager....hmm... god it pains me to say this but Kes. Followed by Kim and his illusive ability to find love or promotion.

TOS: wasn't fond of Chekov.

Ds9: never saw.

Ent. Only saw two episodes.

It's got to be Archer, all the others had the capacity to ruin a scene or two, Archer almost single handed ruin an entire series.
Almost the entire franchise.

Makes me wonder is the NCIS PTB want to put the franchise to bed, so hired Bakula to star in their latest series

Riker is repulsive, a view shared by many women on these forums and quite a few men. There are no "charms".

But if you're smitten with him 2Takes I'm sure he'll give you a whirl.

Riker had this bad habit of hitching a leg up and trying to shove his "charms" into peoples' faces.

Neelix is the Jar Jar Binks of Star Trek.

I completely disagree. Only because there are some really dull characters that I think are worse than Neelix. Neelix was intentionally annoying in order to clash with other characters and be funny.

I would much rather watch someone who is slightly annoying than watch someone who is just boring. A few characters from ENT come to mind like Malcolm Reed. The only episode he was interesting in was when he got drunk and thought he was going to die. Other than that, he is one big pile of dull. Then you have Chakotay, whom I do like when paired with Janeway (I like the J/C pairing), but come on.. the character is stereotypical and downright dull. I'll take a Neelix episode over a Chakotay one any day.

I don't know...just my opinion.

I HATE THE LEG THING.

Every time he does it I cringe. Why is he showing his junk to everyone???

Seriously...if I did that at work (well, I'm a girl but even if I was a dude)...if I put my leg up on a desk while talking...people would look at me like I was insane.

Ugh...one of my least favorite things about TNG is seriously Riker spreading his legs open on the bridge. Dammit Riker, keep that :censored: shut!

LOL, Is that your Riker Pet peeve?

I was going to say, " I bet Janeway would concur if she's ever experienced it." but then she looks too smitten when he's Q'd onto her ship. To which I say, "Kate, noooo. he's wicked and inherently dangerous." (I stole that line from Kate's interview with Conan.)

Harry Kim.

Harry has royally screwed up on occasion and he seems to always get away with it. If memory serves Janeway only reprimanded him once. Also I just find him plain boring.

I almost put Chakotay but I don't have any evidence against him. He seems good at his job and a nice guy. I just don't like the potential J/C shipness in the early seasons. That is not enough for me to hate him though.

Maybe Kes too, She was sweet but brought nothing to the show in my opinion.

I will keep saying this: I like Neelix.

Chakotay strikes me as being duller than Harry Kim. But in the same way I enjoy Chakotay when in scenes with Janeway, I like Harry more when he has scenes with Tom.

Yeah I do like his and Tom's friendship and at least he has a hobby (the clarinet). Okay so maybe Chakotay is more boring.
I'll just call it a tie.

Oh yeah I did know that.. they love the wind instruments don't they. It just adds to Harry's whole boyness, practicing away by himself in his room. Couldn't be a guitar, nooo..

Well, calling him a "ship wreck(er)" was kind of a bit harsh, there, but ... you're not disowned, yet.

 ((...snicker))

Oh! Almost forgot - here's my list:

TOS - Uhura and/or Chapel
The Next Generation - Lwaxana and/or Barclay
DS9 - Kira
VOY - Kim and/or Neelix
ENT - Reed

Neelix is annoying 90% of the time, but when used right ("Jetrel", "Fair Trade"... possibly one or two others I've forgotten, that first one with Naomi Wildman was decent enough) he did actually make for a compelling character. Probably because Ethan Phillips is a competent and likable actor, who unfortunately got too-often saddled with really weak material. And just "lack of substance" weak, like Anthony Montgomery on Enterprise, but "actively makes me want to punch this character in the face" weak, which is harder to recover from.

Still, Harry Kim and Chakotay are more bothersome to me. Neither is written as irritatingly as Neelix tended to be as ensemble characters. But when they got their own episodes, the results were always much harder to sit through than anything focused on Neelix. Is there any Neelix episode even in the same realm of awful as "Favorite Son"? "Non Sequitor"? "The Disease"? "Nightingale"? Yuck, no.

The TOS cast is the best, hands down. I'd put DS9 second, then Enterprise. TNG is a mix of the great and the awful, same as Voyager. I may dislike Deanna Troi more than anyone else, though. Damn nosy Betazoid and her narcolepsy inducing psychobabble.

Ethan Phillips did what he had to do to make Neelix work as friction for all the characters. The only way he could have ramped it up is if he knew how to play the accordion.

Harry Kim, but I do appreciate Wang outside of Trek. It's a shame they didn't write him like they wrote Timeless Kim later on.

As for the other series:

Star Trek: probably Chekov, but there isn't much to choose from

TNG: Deanna Troi - She was only good in a few episodes

DS9: Jadzia Dax - But the main cast was so strong I still like Jadzia quite a bit

ENT: Mayweather - He felt barely in the series.
