Worst Guest Star?

The dreaded Padma Lakshmi, aka, Princess Fishstick.

That's the first one I thought of (even before Melvin Belli or Joe Piscopo). I had no idea who she was at the time- now that I know, I can't help but wonder why she ended up coming off as someone with the personality of a piece of driftwood.

My vote goes to Steven Berkoff and his performance in Business As Usual.

"I'M TOTALLY A THESP, CAN YOU TELL? Blah blah blah torpedoes blah..."

I completely believe that Quark is a real live Ferengi, and not a guy in a rubber mask, and I can even buy that the Shat is really Kirk but Berkoff just had me scratching my head at the overacting :p

the guy who played the mayor or whatever in The Ensigns of Command . . . his whole performance got dubbed over

Bill Hobbs as Emory Erickson in ENT: Daedalus. He was supposed to come across, I think, as driven, brilliant, and a bit desperate, but he only got as far as whiny. Not sympathetic at all.

The guy who played President Jaresh Inyo in DS9's "Homefront"/"Paradise Lost". In the DS9 Companion even Ira Behr opined that the performance didn't really work.

Sarah Marshall, who played dr. Janet Wallace in "The Deadly Years" (TOS).
I always fast forward her scenes, she really makes me cringe.

I actually like Berkoff in this episode. I just smile at the scenery-chewing.

"He's going to like THIS?!?!" :)

Yeah, Berkoff's exclamations reminded me of his over-the-top performance in Beverly Hills Cop as Victor Maitland. Esp. when he yells at Lisa Eilbacher, "SHUT UP!" then quietly but menacingly says, "I don't want to hear it!" :guffaw:! -- RR

I'm gonna second this one. I watched this episode literally last night and god, what a wooden, lifeless actor. And the not quite synched dubbing just added to it. :guffaw:

Who, in your opinion, was the worst guest star in all the ST shows?

solely on the basis of dramatic talent (as in "total lack of"), hands down it's Padma Lakshmi from ENT "Precious Cargo." an incredibly awful actress.

on the basis of irritating stunt casting? joe piscopo, from TNG "the outragoeus okona."

on the basis of just being supremely annoying? jeff the homicidal hologram (or whatever his name was) from that idiotic VOY episode. honorable mention to matt frewer from TNG's "a matter of time."

The Rock just has to win.

Joe Piscopo, of all the people to pick to teach you about humor!

I thought Jason Alexander did fine, it just wasn't the strongest episode.

I don't like Andy Dick and I thought he did okay as well, which surprised me.

I nominate Sarah Silverman. I simply cannot stand this woman, her voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

I agree, destro. If I could get my gf to suck as hard as Silverman's performance, I'd never leave my house! I had hysterical amnesia and couldn't recall. It was weak, even though I liked that VOY ep overall. -- RR

I'll give a pass on Piscopo and the Rock, since they were more or less hired to play themselves.

Overall Worst "Known" Guest Star: Padma Lakshmi

Worst Unknown Guest Star:Anthony James as the Romulan Thei in "The Neutral Zone"

Melvin Belli -- TOS; And The Children Shall Lead

"DEATH! DEATH TO YOU ALLLLL! DEATH TO YOU ALLLLL!!!!"
