Worst gig an actor took

John Rhys-Davies has a ton of horrible movies under his belt; and he also has memorable roles in some of the highest grossing movies of all time. I remember him being asked about this once in an interview; JRD responded that he was a "working actor" and thus took jobs that were available instead of cherry picking. Not sure that's the best strategy, but I guess you do stand better odds of a successful turn if you're taking everything that comes your way.

He also did a lot of voiceover work, including the narration in Quest for Glory IV. I still play that game sometimes just to hear him narrate.

Speaking of John Rys-Davis, I should point out that the man willingly appeared in an Uwe Boll film yet refused to be in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Think about that. :p

^I don't remember what Richards's role was in the Coneheads movie, but I liked the movie overall.

I liked it too, though most people can't stand it. There are plenty worse offerings from the list of SNL skits-to-films. There are some great quotes/moments in the film. :techman: And then there's the Subway commerical.

Chris Farley is incredible in Coneheads. Small role, but hilarious.

Anyway, Richards played the receptionist at the motel where Beldar and Prymatt first stay after crashing their ship on Earth. Richards plays a straight man against the aliens, which was a poor casting choice as Richards doesn't really work as a straight man in comedy. In this role, he played it bored and confused and it clearly didn't work.

I see no mention yet of Elizabeth Berkley in Showgirls.

The scary thing is, that was the high point of her career! :)

Meanwhile, when Christopher Lee was being knighted, I'm sure he was thinking back on his glory days in The Howling 2: Your Sister is a Werewolf . . . .

Well, I guess it was the high water mark in terms of notoriety and exposure (pun semi-intended). Glancing at the Pedia of Wiki, she's had quite a few modest acting gigs on stage, TV and film since, and I suspect they were better acting gigs for her overall.

Wasn't Berkley on that Saved by the Bell sitcom for several years? I gathered that was pretty popular when it was on, so I would've thought she'd be remembered mainly for that. Granted the notoriety of Showgirls would've overshadowed it, but I would've thought it would at least be remembered as her other primary claim to fame. I mean, heck, I barely even watched the show and I remember her in it.

Yes, I remember her as Jessie Spano in Saved By The Bell, but as you say, the notoriety of her role in Showgirls (and, in my opinion, her performance in it) overshadowed that for better or for worse. I'm still not sure if she took the script seriously or not, but word has it that she learned a lot from that acting gig and its aftermath.

Mike Myers in The Love Guru? Does it count if the actor wrote/directed it?
Mariah Carey in Glitter?
Ben Affleck in...... anything?

Laurence Olivier in The Jazz Singer. I saw that with some friends back in college, and I remember coming out of the theater thinking, "My God, is he that hard up for money?"

I would've said Mike Myers in anything. I can't understand why anyone thinks he's funny or talented.

Mostly he's just being Mike Myers. However his British officer in Inglorious Basterds was the most headscratching moment in cinematic history.

Somewhere out there online is a PDF of a book John Leguizamo wrote, which has an entire chapter how badly they both hated making that movie.

Bob Hoskins Mario brothers.
What is the worst job you've done?
Super Mario Brothers.

What has been your biggest disappointment?
Super Mario Brothers.

I get the feeling he deeply regrets that particular job.
Yep it looks like it . I kind of liked the movie myself :), crappy parts aside. I've seen worse movies over the years.
