worf just cracks me up

Worf - "I have a sense of humor! On the Enterprise I was considered to be quite amusing."
Dax - "That must have been one dull ship."
Worf - "That is a joke! I get it!"

How many times has Worf died? I can think of three off the top of my head. Hide and Q, Transfigurations and Ethics. I suppose you could include Cause and Effect.

His death scenes also had me rolling on the floor.

^ What is it about that quote that makes some people crack up? I can't say I ever got the joke.

It's the context. Rashaun & Kevin were having a deep conversation w/ Picard. I think Worf wasn't really paying attention when she invited him into the conversation. He looked momentarily at a loss for words, then blurted out the non-sequitur line.

It was also funny for Worf to say something so innocuous and polite, and it was funny for him to deliver the line while daintily holding a teacup.

"And if you were not an Ambassador, I would disembowel you right here!"

I just happened to watch Liaisons last night, and I loved Worf's reaction to Ambassador Byleth's 'rudeness' experiment; especially when he just loses it and thrashes the s*&% out of him!

In answer to the OP, Worf probably was deliberately written as the comic relief character a lot of the time. He cracked me up constantly. In a way, he seemed to be the only TNG character with a sense of (rather dry) humour.

'Find him and kill him!'

Thanks for answering. That makes it clear. :techman:

Also in the same episode, I found Worf's over-reaction to be amusing, where he requested reassignment for the "Sake of the ship and the Federation" as well as "You see! They are insane!" line.

that's better :D
Worf Approves

Miles "Worf, Keiko's having another baby."

Worf "Now?!"

I had forgotten how funny Worf was, poor unsuspecting man.

Dorn and Frakes had it made when it came to their characters. They were the only two who were allowed to be both serious and funny. Dorn always had this expression on hs face after he said something funny. You can see that he was thinking, "Was that funny??? I never meant it to be funny???" He had such a deadpan delivery.

Not at all. There is quite often a funny Worf lines thread kicking around here.

I have to say my favorite Worf-ism is from DS9, though - during the baseball game: "Death to the opposition!"

That is also my all time favorite line as well. But here is another.
Worf: (about Q) And now a personal request, sir. Permission to clean up the bridge? :)
