Wonder Woman's new look: At long last, pants!

I really like the new costume. It's not perfect, but it's still a huge improvement over fighting in your underwear.

How am I being close minded?

By talking about an interest in realism as if it were something deserving of mockery. That's intensely obnoxious, insulting, and intolerant. You have no right to ridicule people for not having the exact same priorities as you, let alone to suggest that they don't even belong in your fandom. "Not 'right' for superhero comics?" How dare you?
I've no problem with realism, but rather the degree that is needed for each character. Its not onesize fits all. As a creature of myth and fantasy Wonder Woman (and those elements associated with her) does not have to be as real as Batman, who is more grounded in reality. And Batman doesn't have to be as real as an episode of Law and Order. Giving WW or Batman the reality of Law and Order just doesnt work.

If people dont get the conceits of a medium, then they're gonna have problems with a medium and should probaby avoid it. Think skintight bodysuits, masks, capes and physics defying bustiers are silly or impractical? Then you might wanna consider avoiding superhero comics. ( just a suggestion)

What about the ones who don't have capes?!

I mean, seriously, where does Wonder Woman keep her tampons?!

I agree with everything you've said in your posts 100%.

I think some folks take comics to seriously when that take someones opinion about them as a personal insult. I mean seriously, realism in a person born from clay and flies by the force of will? Yeah, I see that happening everyday.....................after smoking an ounce of crack.

As a NYer and a lawyer let me tell you: Batman is much more believable.

In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the police, who investigate crime; and the district attorneys, who prosecute the offenders. And then there is the goddamn Batman.

DUN-DUN!

I agree with most of what you said. As for the aforementioned parts, there is a doodle by a fellow poster in the other thread that deals very effectively with them, and it definitively works.

Here is the link.

(a bit "Saint Seiya - Knights of the Zodiac" now that I look at it again, but it goes well with the Greek motif!;))
Ooo, now that I like. The jacket is the main thing I'm kind of iffy on regarding the redesign, but that interpretation looks really cool. :techman:
I improved it a bit since that last doodle with the help of a higher rez version of the picture and getting my tablet to work momentarily. Not particularly polished, but it fixes almost everything I have against the new costume and I think makes it pretty damn snazzy. I'd get rid of the choker too, but that seems like too much effort right now:

Top notch!! Let's say I hadn't read this thread and all the press releases and just saw a poster of the new duds. If I saw the DC version, I wouldn't know who the hell I was looking at. If I saw your version, I'd still know it was Wonder Woman. Case closed.

You know what's even funnier than the idea of feminists who don't read Wonder Woman writing critiques of Wonder Woman? Men who don't know anything about feminists writing critiques of feminist critiques of Wonder Woman.

People don't hate change in Wonder Woman because she's a victim of sexual politics - comics fanboys just hate change.

It's time for the Xander quote again, isn't it?

Maybe I'm not a fanboy by your definition as I don't hate JMS' changes. The costume is fine, the backstory changes are fine. Maybe the new costume won't include the chastity belt she's been stuck in for decades. It's starting to get a bit smelly in there.

I just think you're all wasting your time reading DC comics if you want positive female characters. Actually, forget the female part of that.
