The most impressive thing about Wonder Woman is that it took 76 years before she finally got her first live action movie.
We should thanking Marvel for making so many successful movies that WB was forced go ahead with their DCEU in order to compete.

I doubt we would have ever gotten solo movies for Wonder Woman or Aquaman if it wasn't for the Avengers.
I think our lord and savior deserves some praises too. Lift your voice up on this Sunday morning, so that he may hear you.

I finally saw this a few days ago and REALLY liked it! Definitely worth a second viewing.

Gal Gadot was fantastic, as was Chris Pine. I thought they had great chemistry as friends, didn't feel the romance though.

Watching Diana take in the strange new world around her and seeing her reactions was fun. Her carrying the sword and shield around London in the first part was .

I also really enjoyed the music, especially her theme.

But like others, I thought the villains were weak, and also the secondary characters. Diana and Steve were the only ones I could remember.

I wish there had been more with the Amazons though.

I don't disagree, but in the movie's defence I think one could argue that what we saw was the beginning of a romance cut tragically short, not a fully realised relationship. Personally I like that they implied that Steve was just as inexperienced as Diana when it came to romance. A nice subversion of the womanising spy trope I thought.

And yeah, the villain was pretty weak. Not that this is the only superhero movie to suffer from third act problems (even some of the very best!)
Part of me wonders how much more interesting it would have been to reveal that Ares really was killed by Zeus in their final confrontation and the war was 100% humankind's own stupid fault. Fully committing to the notion that there's no simple solutions to resolving conflict seems more in keeping with Wonder Woman's role as a diplomat and a peace-maker than an enforcer of order and justice like most other DC heroes.

On the other hand, the crazy visual spectacle of a god and a demi-god going at it like something straight out of the Iliad or Odyssey is hard to pass up.

‘Wonder Woman’: Female and Older Moviegoers Powered Box Office, New Study Shows

Wonder Woman having a large female audience was expected, but it has also been getting older audiences and more of those people that usually don't go see movies in theaters to see it. Pretty cool!:D
For the older audience I think it might have to do with her being a well liked character that has been LONG overdue for a trip to the big screen. As much as I love Batman and Superman, the fact that they have had so many movies made about them while Wonder Woman has had none in that same forty year time span is a travesty.

WB has slotted two unannounced DCEU films for 2020, for February 14th and June 5th.

It's a fairly safe bet that the June one is Wonder Woman 2, to be announced in a few days at SDCC. :techman:

That seems pretty far away... though i guess we';; get more Wonder Woman later this year and then in what 1 or 2 years?

That sweet spot sounds perfect for Wonder WOman...probably will make even MORe money than the first!

Gal Gadot cast as Wonder Woman In ‘Batman Vs. Superman’

Remember that old Gal is Wonder Woman announcement topic on this board?

I've been reading it, and it's been good for a laugh. Too many "she will have to bulk up for the role" comments. Christopher was supportive from the start, while there was Trekker4747 and kirk55555's absolute stubborn refusal that Gal could be Wonder Woman.

I don't think that topic needed 1000 posts though.

I vastly prefer Gal's Wondy over Cavill's mopey Superman, and Affleck's psycho branding Batman.

Cavill had the misfortune of only being directed by Synder, who doesn't understand Superman at ALL. Affleck will do better once he is outside the influence of Snyder and has Matt Reeves directing him.

I just love people bringing up old shit long after I've admitted to being totally wrong. Especially long after the discussion is over and the posts in question were made over three years ago, because everyone knows that time and evidence can't render old opinions irrelevant/wrong

The only part I didn't thoroughly enjoy in the film was the over long and over dramatic fight with Ares.
Otherwise, just about a perfect superhero film from start to finish.

Wonder Woman has made 3.71X its $103M opening so far which is absolute INSANITY

List of the superhero movie opening weekend multipliers (for movies that opened on a Friday)

Iron Man 3.22

That seems like a strangely ineffective metric.
It's one way to measure how well movies do at the box office. Box office enthusiasts/followers refer to that as legs.

A movie can have a huge first weekend and collapse like BvS, maybe because of bad word of mouth.

A movie can open lower but can make up for that by having strong following weekends, like what Wonder Woman is doing.

Wonder Woman had the smallest first weekend out of all the DCEU films, but she has already beaten Man of Steel, BvS, and Suicide Squad.

But the only number that counts--global box office--has Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice as the highest grossing DC film of this new film universe, with $873,260,194 as opposed to Wonder Woman's $768,876,840. Still over 100 million behind, and overtaking that is unlikely to happen.

I have to disagree, the only number that matters is Profit. I'll concede the studios never release enough information for us to be sure; however we do know for sure that BvS cost 101M more then Wonder Woman (250m > 149m) and that production cost doesn't include marketing and distribution. This number alone covers the 100m behind issue.

It appeared to me that there was WAY more marketing for BvS then WW so I assume they spent more on marketing for BvS.
Lastly I have read a few times that studios get a bigger chunk of the domestic box office then they do for the foreign box office, and BvS made a bigger chunk of it's total over seas.

All that put together suggests to me that WW is the most profitable DCEU movie ever. and its still only 7 weeks in theatres , BvS numbers reflect 12 weeks in the theatre
